Let's wait to see what Burnham has to say at 4pm.No 10 position. Govt figure says deal “fell down over £5m. From our PoV we moved a lot”. Govt offered £55m biz support. Call btwn Burnham & PM to agree sum. Burnham asked for £65m. Gov agreed to £60m, that then rejected. Not clear what gov will offer. Cld ‘well be less than £60m’
Well done burnham, risking lives for 5 m

You only have to watch Ambulance to see why they are so busy, when pricks are phoning up because they can’t be arsed getting themselves to A&E because they stubbed their toe.Unfortunately, that is the norm.NWAS is permanently battered.
Meanwhile. The provisional number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 9 October 2020 (Week 41) was 9,954.
8 more than last week and 143 more than the five year average for week 41.
Of these 9,954, COVID 19 was mentioned 434 times on the death certificate. Proportionate response?
Saying Andy is costing lives is bullshit.
From the moment boris was adament schools would stay open come what may and let the students back to uni then it was clear to me the virus would spread and hospitality would be closed , it was a reckless choice and has backfired , i understand burnham is looking out for you but for 5m he has stitched you all upHe has to try and get the best deal possible for Manchester. Its a delicate balancing act but you can't expect people on minimum wage to have only 66% of their salaries.
I also think the whole Tier 3 is a load of bollocks regardless. Whilst colleges and schools stay open its not going away, hospitality will be the most affected and they're such a low percentage in terms of cases.
I never said otherwise
The posturing by burnham, no matter how well meaning , is really costing you

Johnson and his gang of criminals is costing the country , fancy burnham requesting that the low paid should get 80% of a minimum wage .The moral bankruptcy of this country and some citizens is breathtakingThe posturing by burnham, no matter how well meaning , is really costing you
People in Manchester who flat out refuse to follow the rules i.e. refusing to give their details or refusing to use track and trace in restaurants is potentially costing lives so humour me, why should people give a shit about Manchester if that is typical of the behaviour in the city?Waste of bloody time, can put a bowl of salad out as a loophole!

I saw it myself yesterday. Why people think they are above this fucking disease is beyond me. It's pure ignorance or there are some really selfish twats around... I'll opt for ignorant
I may be wrong, but I believe Germany haven’t restricted visitors in your home, or visiting other? Or maybe just limiting numbers? Yet we are told that is the biggest source of infection. We have had those restrictions now for months, and the most difficult to adhere to. How have Germany managed to avoid those restrictions? If infection numbers are too high you simply can't handle track and trace anymore. Not via phone.
Here in Germany the system is generally very good with a lot of staff working in public health departments 7 days a week since March, and our new infections are still lower compared to UK
but track and trace is at a limit right now.
10k+ soldiers are helping now in makeshift call centers. More cities will ask for support soon.
Our corona app doesn't help much, only 15% of new infections per day are registered on the app by covid+ tested persons.
Reason for many: data safety! (but busy on social media...)
Personally, I would say the pandemic is NOT about the virus.
Our problem is communicating simple measures to a big majority.
Some people don't understand the problem and don't follow rules.
Many people don't WANT to follow rules for personal reasons.
Handling a virus is piss easy and has been said a million times:
reduce contacts, keep a distance, ware a mask, wash your hands.
Period.
Since months politicians and scientists are not working out WHAT to do - they are trying to communicate the right dose to get a maximum of modern selfish western people on board.
THAT's the true problem. Human behaviour.
We live in Wales now and we've been locked down for two weeks already... Another 3-week national lockdown starting Friday.... It's pointless if people aren't going to follow the rules.. We either screw the nut as a nation (meaning the UK) and sort this together or we might as well give up and try our chances with herd immunityI agree was in Wales a month ago and went to some restaurants and the amount of people who can't follow an arrow on the floor is a joke. QR scanners aren't hard to use and neither is filling out a piece of paper!
Andy Burnham should have set up a company called Greater Manchester PPE Ltd. He’d have got £108 million no problem.

I agree but in addition, the more I hear about track & trace the more of a joke it appears. A volunteer at the community gardening I go to tested positive and was contacted by track and trace but they didn’t want to know because he didn’t have the Zoom App.People in Manchester who flat out refuse to follow the rules i.e. refusing to give their details or refusing to use track and trace in restaurants is potentially costing lives so humour me, why should people give a shit about Manchester if that is typical of the behaviour in the city?
