COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Part of the problem is even well meaning people look at the restrictions and work them to the limit....rather than doing as little interaction as they can with the restriction limit as the ceiling.

*I think that reads as I mean it too.

most people have been trying to live life as normal in a pandemic, rather than live within the realms of the pandemic. Like poking a dog until it snarls at you, but like with Covid, you never know the next time the dog will bite and it could just be an innocent bystander who comes across the dog on a walk and goes to close or tries to stroke it.

Anyone going on foreign holidays, even domestic holidays really, not wearing masks in enclosed public spaces, having or going to parties or having friends round, not social distancing at pubs, clubs etc. should just have had mandatory enrollment in the human challenge trials.

Must admit to being guilty of a foreign holiday...was booked in January I did post on here that should it be cancelled we'd not have been too upset to get our cash back but, as I think CV will be an issue through next year as well I wasn't going to take up the re-book for 2021.

Regional scoreboard

London 2221 - UP from 1718 - second most here yet and highest in 4 days.

Midlands 2052 - DOWN from 2180

North East 2427 - UP by a lot from 1393 to highest yet here.

Yorkshire 3261 - UP from 2745

And North West 4603 - UP from 3956 Though this is the smallest percentage rise of the areas that went up. North East was the most. Then London.

It's also clear that far too many are still not following the rules, so don't care for their own friends and/or families, which above all else I don't understand.

We have to get on with life, that I understand, but we can do that responsibly, and look after each other, there will always be people who shout "fuck the rules", but so many are being utterly selfish, it's a sad indictment of this country, and clearly it's not just this country either.
Very much so! Far too many think it’s cool to not follow rules, but that doesn’t work under a deadly virus. It’s like thinking it’s cool to jump out from cover to make yourself and others around you a target for a mad man with a machine gun.

Greater Manchester total was up by 267 today to 2165 - second highest in past week.

But at 47% of the NW total it fell slightly from 48% but is still running ahead of where it was.

Merseyside seems to have gone down a little whilst GM has risen.

Todays highlights

All but one borough in GM was up today. But Bury had an excellent day. Lowest GM number of any borough in a week here.

Rochdale continued its better data of yesterday,

But five of the ten boroughs were over 200 cases today.

Manchester was up significantly today by 139 more than yesterday. Biggest riser of the day in GM,

Only Birmingham had more cases and not by many but they are such a huge borough Manchester is certainly worse today overall.

Bradford was second worst with 431 cases

On Merseyside Liverpool was the most lower than Manchester I can recall in recent weeks. And its Pop score rose by a lot less too.

Wirral was down significantly to 129 and its Pop score is better than all but Stockport in GM.

Knowsley was slightly up but still at two thirds of where it was when Merseyside agreed Tier 3. But its Pop score still rose by 76 (though first day it rose less than Manchester's did). And at 3701 is the first place in the UK to enter the 3700 club which Manchester is still some way from reaching.

Warrington had a bad day with cases going up from 79 to 128.

Blackburn had a very good day too - at just 97 - falling from several days around 150 - 180. But at a Pop Score of 3492 is still the only one anywhere near Knowsley in the North West.

Burnley had a small rise to 63 cases taking it to a pop score of 3242.

Rossendale was also up from 51 to 77 and being such a small borough its Pop Score shot up by the most of anywhere in the region today - 107 - taking it to 2480. Though higher than only GMs two best boroughs - Trafford and Stockport.

Finally Leicester - the first place into restrictions in late June had its worst day in some time after a week of rising numbers. And added over 200 cases for first time I have seen.

So without N Ireland that is 212 daily deaths today. The most since May bank holiday. Just 6 weeks or so after we were at the peak of wave one.

We are saving lives now of people that would have died in the first wave. Which is good in one way but also rather concerning given how fast right now these numbers are going up.

I think forever we will be arguing (I know I will) that if we had done what Sage wanted a month ago we would not be talking about anything like this many deaths today.

I know it is up for debate and we will likely never know for sure and it was a tough call balancing lives and economy but this was a mistake imo that in the fullness of time will end political careers. Because errors in a pandemic have very visible consequences and are hard to forget.

Especially when there is more than one of them.

Not politics. I like Boris. I wish him well. But we are struggling to get these big calls right.
You 'like' Boris!
Street cred blown.

So the UK hospital deaths today are a very sad 218. Versus 108 last week. And 48 the week before that.

In those two weeks the reported UK hospital deaths have more than quadrupled.

Unless this slows we will be looking at 500 deaths a day by mid November.

Let us hope someone knows what they are doing and it does.

Wish I had more faith that they do.
The rate at which infections are rising appears to have slowed recently so hopefully the same will happen with deaths. Unfortunately they haven't yet started falling.

A wedding in south east London with around 250 guests has been shut down by police, Attempts had been made to mask the celebration, including closing shutters at the front of the property

Same link as above , sky rolling news

What hope do we have when people wont stick to the fucking rules !
None. Far too many people aren't even bothering to Hands/Face/Space.

Pop score up 56 to 1975. Will be the last to enter the 2000 club tomorrow leaving GM with nobody under that score. Weekly Pop 376. Clinging onto a sub 400 score but was sub 300 last week which tells you a lot.

GM weekly Pop score Rankings lowest number is best.

Andy Burnham accused this inept government of quoting highly selective statistics as they bullied us into tier 3 this week.
They knew exactly what they were doing.
Fuck knows where we go from here now the clocks will be going back tonight.
Stand by for months of pointless trench warfare against an enemy that poses no serious threat to the vast majority of us.
It's all a bit ridiculous.

You know very well you can spread it without getting unwell yourself , this is a joint effort

This is helpful..

Eighteen people have been arrested and three police officers injured after anti-lockdown protests in central London.

Its not helpful in the slightest
That said expect a lot.more of this
People are fed up of being locked up for months and the governments shit handling of the crisis.
People should obey the rules and I have done but I totally understand peoples frustration.
People's liberties and freedoms have been removed, unnecessarily In my opinion for a virus that wont affect the vast majority of the population.
