I agree with everything you said except Klopp part. But Klopp didn't have the best resources at Liverpool?!
I would also put in Mourinho's porto who won everything in 3rd criteria.
Interesting.

Yes, Mourinho’s success with Porto would certainly fit category 3. However, despite that plus his excellent achievements in terms of trophies, Pep‘s superiority on criterion 2 shades it for me. He’s been supremely “functional”.

Add to that, I can’t stand the moaning cnut!

I disagree with you on Klopp. He has thrived on much lower resources than Mourinho at Chelsea or Pep at any club (Including City). He didn’t inherit a Messi, Merlin, Kun or Vinny. His team building has been far more cost efficient, even allowing for the Coutinho financial miracle. Again though, his artistic merit factor is inferior to Pep’s. A brilliant manager though.

Horses for courses. All three are serious contenders in their own ways.

Klopp and Guardiola just work different. Whereas it is the "beauty of the game" with Pep it is about "mentality" and teamwork with Pep. Klopp's main playmaker is pressing - Pep's is passing and positioning. Be careful - all elements can be found in both styles, too - it is just what the coaches emphasize on.

This awards are bullocks. When it is about one year all of the coaching awards should have gone to Flick. When it is about many years Guardiola probably had the biggest influence not just on his teams but on new coaches, too. Getting trophies a lot has too match - it is not just about coaching.

We were discussing “Coach of the Century, 2001-2020” and my post was in that context.

(For which read century so far, because it‘s otherwise a stupid label.)

It's more than about points, titles or the final result - it's the manner of play that evokes something in all of us. The other night was an example from City and this has always been his goal

That Barcelona team is probably the best team I have seen in 30 odd years following football, aye. The 2011 version more than the 2009. His Bayern and City teams are brilliant as well.

Guardiola's Barca took the way football had been played through the generations, most recently like that by Sebes then by Cruyff and Michels, then Bielsa, and pioneered a style of play which is still in effect today -possession, intense high pressing, players being able to fill in in different areas of the pitch, total football, and now teams are still influenced by it.

If you think about it, what tactical mark or legacy did Ferguson leave on the game? None. He was a terrific man manager, but as a coach and with understanding of tactics Guardiola is miles better.

Cup final, almost top of the league, top of CL group stages, some massive adjustment this season from a tactical stand point of view and as much as he’s messed up so have the players Sterling one on one misses VS Leeds and West Ham, de Bryune missed PK vs Liverpool those 4-5 glorious chance missed against West Brom in 5 min period. Yet people though he was disinterested the, team lost faith off him and giving him a 2 year extension was a mistake lol

I take it all those people regretting he signed his extension are feeling a bit of humility.
Yep. Wouldnt say i regretted it but i honestly didnt jump n down with joy.

so yeah, scoffing on humble pie as we speak.

hes proved why hes the best. Totally concentrating on sorting the defence, and now slowly sorting our attack.

weve got .. guardiola

He has got the fire back in his belly and he is ensuring our players have it too.

Whatever was mithering him a few months back has clearly been solved.

Get to the summer, hopefully with a couple of trophies, and this team, with a couple of new players.....is ready for blast off again.

I wonder how much the death of his mother earlier this year affected his motivation for a while. Just speculating.
