To be fair, although there is some truth in what you say in that remainers, me included, post links about the negative impacts of Brexit these may be taken from Twitter but are usually from the mainstream media and usually reference entire industries or certainly bigger outfits than a coffee shop. In fact I doubt whether you could point to a post about a coffee shop whereas I can point to actual stories about the loss of a prospective 10-20 jobs in Macclesfield, now likely to be relocated to France as a direct consequence of BrexitCan you honestly, hand on heart, say that this hasn’t happened regarding Brexit since New Year’s Day?
Every day I’ve dipped in it’s been endless Tweets from FBPE accounts, talking about a coffee shop going bust in Somerset and blaming Brexit.
It’s part of the reason I’ve now become someone who’s ended up defending the position I actually disagree with.
Actual stories about real businesses and people that are negatively impacted. Leavers have been asked on several occasions to provide balance by pointing out any noticeable gains these early days but by and large have been silent on the matter. So it’s ok for you lot to latch onto anything that puts brexit in a negative light, but if the shoe is in the other foot it’s totally different.
Makes perfect sense
Tsk, you guys... so funnyWho?
Some really famous guy that no-ones heard of ;)Who?

I’ve seen newspaper articles from right across the political spectrum reporting negative effects of Brexit. That includes the Express who will blame the EU for the problems, but they are problems nonetheless. I’m waiting for the positive Brexit stories and there haven’t been any. Our vaccine success and the EU’s failure really are not Brexit related but the desperation of the Brexiteers has made it such that you wouldn’t think so.Can you honestly, hand on heart, say that this hasn’t happened regarding Brexit since New Year’s Day?

I mean this thread specifically.I’ve seen newspaper articles from right across the political spectrum reporting negative effects of Brexit. As for Twitter, I take no notice unless there’s a link to a reputable source.
The coffee shop was a purposely over exaggerated example. To be fair, although there is some truth in what you say in that remainers, me included, post links about the negative impacts of Brexit these may be taken from Twitter but are usually from the mainstream media and usually reference entire industries or certainly bigger outfits than a coffee shop. Tell me a Brexit success story then. As I’ve said the vaccine story is fuck all to do with Brexit however much you like to think it is. Also, in a month or so that issue will be gone but we’ll be stuck with rotten fish, pigs that can’t be exported and ridiculous costs to pay for packages delivered from Europe along with everything else.So it’s ok for you lot to latch onto anything that puts brexit in a negative light, but if the shoe is in the other foot it’s totally different.

How do you know society hasn’t been impacted? We’re all in lockdown. The coffee shop was a purposely over exaggerated example.
The thread really hasn’t progressed from last year where everything is just hyperbole, when in reality society has barely been impacted.
It really isn’t hyperbole when entire industries are threatened just because you don’t feel the impact in Stockport. Thankfully we were also able to get a fish from our local chippy this evening as well. The coffee shop was a purposely over exaggerated example.

The economy hasn’t really got even worse on top of Covid, predictions are ok, there haven’t been further mass job losses as a direct result of leaving. We notice economic impacts at work before most industries, especially with our clients and their cost cuttings and since New Year the job market has actually improved (this is more of a companies-getting-used-to-lockdown reason than anything btw). How do you know society hasn’t been impacted? We’re all in lockdown.
I really don’t think anyone is obsessing about the campaign and neither is a search for negatives desperate because you simply have to open a newspaper or turn on the TV and they are reported. This describes quite a few on here based on the way they post
I have been criticised before for referring to some of them as a 'pack' - but pack behaviour is absolutely what they display
@Ban-jani was one of the most committed (and argumentative) Remainers on here between 2016-2020 - but had a characteristic only seen in a couple or Remainers......
He was able to take stock and move on and look to the best interests of the UK.
He has been able to debate and challenge posters from both sides of the argument
Importantly, he has not become paralysed in the past - still obsessing about the campaign or spending his days desperately searching for anything - anything at all, no matter how desperate, that can be presented to an echo chamber as a reason to salivate
But I observe that he now attracts the attention of the pack - individuals simply unable to suffer anyone to 'move on'
Pretty fucking sad - IMO

Hard to say society hasn’t been affected by Brexit but fair to say, and the point has been made on several occasions that Society is somewhat distracted by even weightier matters right now

To your, sort of, credit you have consistently pushed the line that the Brexit dividend will be in years to come and we’ll all sit and wait for that. @Mëtal Bikër was also consistent in his reasons for advocating leave which was without regards to the economic outcomes.
There are few other leavers saying anything of substance in presenting the current benefits of Brexit but hey, they have a good line in spam jokes...
I don’t think entire industries are threatened, I think some small ones have taken a bit but it’s far better than what I feared. It really isn’t hyperbole when entire industries are threatened just because you don’t feel the impact in Stockport. And - whilst I might be wrong (but really doubt I will be) we will find out that the Contract Ts&Cs do not remotely provide any justification for the EU's threatened actions (I have been tied up today so may be out of touch with developments)It’s highly unlikely the contract will stipulate such to permit that, they could argue they are entitled to. It would also be a strange contract where the delivery schedule is entirely binding with no best endeavour clause.
Irrespective, contract disputes should be resolved in a court of law not by arbitrary action of one party to the contact particularly when that action is against a 3rd party simply on the grounds that they also have a contract with same. AZ could of course avoid court by offering to settle and rip the contract up delivering exactly 0 vaccines. Now that wouldn’t be unethical of course because it is contract law right?
That the UK may send the vaccine to Germany for placement into vials and that the EU threaten to withhold that would do huge damage to the EUs reputation as a safe place to do business.... what was it they said when the UK passed a rightful law allowing for it to change part of the WA?
Of course tensions are high because the EU is behind the curve here and probably getting asked questions about that. Best form of defence is attack and all that but rather than having the CEO of AZ spend energy fighting off the media and trade barbs with the EU surely the more prudent action would be to just let him get on with fixing the issues that are causing their delays. Every country has experienced delays between promised doses and available ones, they undoubtedly didn’t like it but they just got on with it - there is a lesson there for the EU.
