Political relations between UK-EU

That isn’t a good reason why they have done this it’s just a made up excuse “because they can”. You can say “because I can” for any number of things, it’s a childish like reaction to doing something wrong, but they aren’t reasons they are to excuse your behaviour. Why were you speeding? Because I can. Why did you punch your neighbour? Because I can. Why did you invoke article 16? Because I can. Why did you ban UK shellfish l? Because I can. Do me a favour.

In the case of shellfish with the EU we did do our homework and they said it would be ok. Now they have changed their mind “because they can”. How can you even begin to defend such behaviour is really beyond me especially when you can’t come up with anything that even resembles a good reason just a lame “because I can” excuse.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. But that concept is lost on people. :)

we spent 40 years as an integral part of a bloc creating rules to exclude 3rd countries from trading with the EU and were fine with that.

Then 52% of those who voted took a step that made us a 3rd country and 100% of the population feel the burn. And that 52% stamp their feet and cry like babies.

The only things being dismantled are the fishing industry, fish processing and haulage.
That is complete and utter bullshit, did you not read the agreement on fishing?
This country's quotas have increased, and the only snag is the current nonsense under discussion.
Your past record on who's going bust, who's lost jobs because of Brexit,
Car factory closures, lorries and the myriad other assortment of dreadful perceived happenings isn't exactly a roaring success.

Completely irrelevant.

This is about a specific issue with shell fish. Let’s stick with that and lest we forget you were the one posting the Twitter feed on it so presume you have a genuine interest in the conversation.

Its the 'transition period' for the Fishing industries of Europe and the UK.

Our 'friends' in the EU never gave two shits about the UK fishing industry whilst we were a member, what makes anyone think they'd be pragmatic now? I have to say I find it all very hypocritical that the usual voices now suddenly care about the Fishing industries plight when for years it was dismissed by them, fishermen who voted for it were laughed at by remainers and even felt that if their industry went down the pan it "served them right for voting for it". Now, out come the crocodile tears in faux 'support'.

Others may forget these sort of comments and opinions, but I remember them being said.

Ahh the thing I love most about politics and politicians;

Just because they can doesn't mean they should.

Organisation that Leavers branded protectionist behaves in a protectionist manner and they are shocked.

Going back a good few years now, but joining the EU totally screwed our fishing industry, ports rapidly fell into decline. Around that time people
were also beginning to see the effects of the Common Agricultural Policy,
and the big boost it gave to the French farming industry. This is probably
the time when anti EU sentiment began to grow, coupled with the fact that we had a totally useless PM in Heath, who took us into it, and we are where we are.

So I take it you won’t address the issue on shell fish then? At least @west didsblue had the good grace to criticise the EU on this whilst still maintaining a consistent pro-EU stance by citing friendly cooperation and cautioning against any retaliatory action by the UK.

get used to it - thats what is going to happen. I'll listen to the words of the owner of Baron Shellfish who is closing as a direct result of Brexit and those of the Kent cheese maker ceasing exports to NI and laying staff off because of Brexit. You need to learn to own your consequences.

Organisation that remainers love behaves like a twat.
UK musing over boarding their boats.
EU continues behaving like a Twat.
Boats boarded, nets inspected, catches seized.
EU fishing industry wiped out overnight.

That’s a no then. Have it your way as you really can’t quite bring yourself to be critical of the EU can you? It weakens anything else you have to say on the subject and a complete waste of time trying to engage with you. I’m not sure if it’s a blind love of the EU or blind hatred of the tories/Brexit that drives you and I honestly can’t be arsed finding out because it’s irrational.

Edit: Apologies put UK meant Brexit!
