We’ve already seen case numbers no longer dropping yet the deaths are still on a downward trajectory. As you say, hopefully now that nearly all the most vulnerable have been vaccinated, even if case rates rise there won’t be a significant impact on death rates and we can get back to some sort of normality sooner rather than later.
Remember, deaths are (on average) from cases 3 weeks ago.

No not saying that at all.
They should stop giving that hypocritical wanker Ferguson air time for starters. The man's an idiot whose predictions have proved to be consistently incorrect over the past few months and on previous illnesses.
Its staggering how he keeps being asked his opinion.
Its equally staggering reading everyone of you're posts berating anyone and everything.
You are Bluemoons Ferguson.

Another reason for the Gov UK delay was caused by 850 cases - mostly from Yorkshire recently - being wrongly added as positive when they were void instead - we are told btw.

4715 cases and 58 all settings deaths as a result I assume as the Yorkshire cases all come from the past few days and those are likely why in those few days it has beaten the North West!
Cases on Sat, Sun and Mon will be lower I think going forward due to the reduced amount of Lateral Flow testing at the weekend.

As more restrictions get lifted, there will probably be a rise in cases but I’m optimistic that we’ve gotten far enough ahead of the curve on the vaccination front for it not to be a major issue. Hospitalisations, ICU numbers, and deaths are the most important indicators and all those continue to plummet. 70 deaths yesterday and that was still with 17 days to go before pub beer gardens are open. We could be looking at close to single digit daily death figures in 2 or 3 weeks time. No guarantees obviously, but I look at the data day after day that @Healdplace posts and I increasingly think that the key dates in the roadmap out of lockdown look like very good calls.

I do aswell. I think we’re in a great place.
just weary as optimism has let us down before.

What was it that you think my post was implying ?

just pointing out reopening of pub gardens and house gardens is going to result in a lot of household mixing - we are likely to see a sharpe rise in cases but I pray the vaccines will have taken affect in keeping hospitalisations down and deaths down and we don’t have to go through another lockdown again.
You said once gardens and pubs will be allowed it will be a free for all for house parties.

there were many on here all last year arguing that the draconian rules need to remain because when you give an inch some take a mile.

I am frankly fed up of that approach and it is not sustainable to tell rule followers to lock up and have no freedom because of those who choose to ignore them anyway. Particularly when we in greater Manchester have only been permitted to mix with others for 26 days out of 365 and counting.

if it was not your intention then apologies.

They have been since they started this but unfortunately we only find out o Monday as they do not bother updating the testing over the weekend in England and never have. The other home nations all do.

As I have said before in the past week or two this and the hospital numbers - which they also often leave over the weekend - are now more important given the huge swings day to day.

I posted some of the differences between cases and tests yesterday in here last night from last week. It is not as impactful as you might expect. Despite gigantic leaps and falls in tests day to day around the weekend.

I was just stating it as a fact. Garden visits and pub gardens will be allowed in the next few weeks - and very few will abide by social distancing measures and there will be house parties galore.

I’m beyond caring to report or look down on people for whatever behaviour now as it’s just not worth stressing over but I am weary of going back into another lockdown despite the success of our vaccine rollout.

Just watching the Holland match . There’s a fair few fans been allowed in with no social distancing ... I was under the impression Holland was struggling with a 3rd wave ?

If you were to drive past the embassy club Bernard mannings
Beer gardens haven’t shut, all the piss heads sit congregated outside passing the meths round

England Hospital data today is again odd. May be end of month audits as it occurred yesterday too.

Good news if you live in London or the North West ( both fell by a decent amount) but rather awful if you live in Yorkshire where patients shot up overnight by 25% - 155 patients - which means they have more in than 9 days ago.

This is baffling tbh and makes no sense as it is so far off trend - though Yorkshire is clocking up the most cases right now and has all week. Ventilators fell there as well.

There have been some odd ups and downs this week as those who read the full data I publish each evening (in an hour or so) will have seen.

But this had a big impact on the fall in patients. It was low yesterday due to a readjustment to numbers upwards in another region (South East) and now today this even bigger rise in Yorkshire.

Numbers still fell day to day from the other areas but less than usual because of this big adjustment up in Yorkshire.

Numbers fell in England by just 36 to 3676 today. For the first time less than 1000 down on 7 days ago (4589). Though the lower you go the harder the fall as we know.

Ventilators fell a little too by 22 to 537.

England Regional Summary:

SOUTH

Some huge falls here as you can see

East down 177 to 255

London down 118 to 383

South East down 206 to 355

South West down 63 to 206

MIDLANDS

Also big falls here

East down 141 to 453

West down 158 to 444

NORTH

The glitch messes up any meaning here as NE is minus and Yorkshire well down (partly impacted by the data) and North West down less so than most.

North East ??? (scored minus 576 on yesterday's total)

Yorkshire down 348 to 716 - some of which will be due to the cases removed as with North East.

And

North West only falls by 99 to 668 but just manages to stay second highest region behind Yorkshire
