What do those numbers mean? And when were those team ratings compiled? Villa were awesome about a month ago - but have cooled substantially.
It's a current average rating out of ten reached by compiling about 200 different statistics. Whether they're giving all of those different stats correct weighting is highly debatable.

Cheers.

Still, when were those stats compiled? I honestly thought that Villa stood a good chance at a top 4 finish about a month or so ago - since then, they've come back to earth.

After the last league/cup game, they're updated every time a match is played.
In that case - these ratings seem suspect - unless Villa (admittedly I haven't watched their games) have experienced wildly bad results - their rating is nowhere near in line with their current league position.

28 played on 41 points - there's almost no fucking way they'll even finish top 4.

It seems like one of the 200 statistics is the number of minutes a player has played at Villa Park! :-)

Mahrez, Dias, Silky Ilkay and Stones should all have higher ratings than Grealish imho.

I understand that perspective, we’ve got a lot of incredibly talented players.

Maybe hard to compare Grealish to a defender (apples & oranges innit) but if Mahrez or Ilkay were in that Villa side then I‘d imagine that they‘d be better rated as individuals virtue of the sharp contrast in ability between them and their team mates making them shine brightly and also the fact that they’d be central to almost everything happening.
And visa versa, if Grealish were in our side then he wouldn’t be quite so central to play so might not get quite such high ratings.
Grealish is still class though. He gets a slagging, from those less open to change, due to his haircut and tight shorts but I wouldn’t care if his hair do was a pink beehive and he wore a tutu instead of shorts because if he ever gets to wear our shirt then his ability as a footy player will be my only concern.

Rumours (hopefully/probably bullshit) that his place in the England squad for the Euros is under threat because of Lingard's rise to form.

If that happens, he'll probably be even more open to a move given the supposed bias to teams higher in the league. Not that he'd take much persuading, mind.

WhoScored stats work off raw data stats usually, so it favours players who do well there.

Grealish creates lots of chances, gets fouled a load, and is presumably high up in the dribble stats. So he'll be rated well.

Lingard's rise to form.

In typical United fan fashion, one of their players who's been shit for years has suddenly gone from shit to average and they've convinced the world that he's suddenly become really good. Shaw this season is the best example of that- he was awful and now he's decent so, by comparison, they think he's world class. Fred and Smalling- same story.

I don't believe for a second that Grealish is getting left out of the Euros just because Jesse fucking Lingard finally decided to stop doing TikTok dances and focus on his actual job for a couple of weeks.

Haha! Not one City player even though we are currently the best team in the world.
Grealish has missed the last four as well hasn’t he?
They got the number one position right though I suppose.

Whoscored give huge scores for completed take-ons. It's why despite being shit Adama Traore has a 7.07 rating for the season. That's puts him on par with Gabby and Bernie and better than Ruben.

It's why Grealish is so high, why Hazard was always highest rated in the league and it's why Messi always eclipses everyone(Lewandowski could score a 100 goals this season and not beat Messi's score as he doesn't dribble past players).

Grealish is a class player. Strange people can’t see past his off the field antics. I reckon in our side he’d perform as well as Bernardo. And I love Bernardo.

I’ve really come round to the idea of getting grealish and hope the club can do it this summer! I wonder if the recent story of clubs looking at Mahrez might tie in with him leaving and grealish coming in?

Given the difficulty in getting in players especially from Europe of quality some home grown players look more appealing perhaps by default to some degree.

I think we do need an out and out striker though to replace Kun however unless Torres can make it as a striker but the jury is out on that.

Is Kane the answer I am not overly as keen on that idea as I was a season even less or two ago.

Paying the English player price mate.....Mahrez 60 mill
We aren’t paying it full stop pal, be it 30m or 80m... you’re also talking 3 years ago, when revenues were at their height from tv money and no pandemic...

It’s an easy conclusion this one, we wouldn’t pay ‘English tax’ on players then, and we certainly won’t be doing it now!

Unlike most mate I think players prices will stay the same or higher.
Clubs will want to recoup the money lost this year and will not be willing to let their prize assets go and not be in a position to replace them
