I'm into Cricket and they have introduced "The Hundred" format which has caused a lot of grief and uproar.
However they had mass fan consultation on the subject and even though it's controversial they are going ahead with it.
Main difference I'm emphasising is they did a lot of research into it and asked the fans of the game.
Oh, I absolutely agree Matt. There's been zero fan engagement on this and when the MUST guys asked the question in a general meeting (various other matters were on the agenda so it wasn't a Super League specific meeting) they were fobbed off with a complete lie.

In any situation where you’re given a choice to make, you have to look at your alternatives.

What’s clear is this was hatched up without us - and was happening - with us in it or not.

We were offered a choice to be part of the ESL proposal, or to stay with UEFA’s competition in a revised form which is also a compete fucking stitch up.

In that situation, both choices were shite - so it looks like we took the best option.

There was no continuity ‘stay as it is’ option available.

Frankly, I don’t blame the Club for not trusting UEFA as much as I wouldn’t blame them for not trusting the Yanks.

Some on here seem to be reacting as if we have walked out on a mystery option which somehow retained the ‘soul of football’ within it.

That option does not exist.

This was one shit show against another - and we chose the most advantageous option for our Club.

We clearly weren’t the architects of this, but were forced to make a choice between two sides.

I may be being thick here, but I just don’t see this honourable third option you all seem to be lamenting actually existing anywhere in reality.
Exactly bud.

Schalke who are rock bottom of the bundesliga. been shit all season will now play in the super league next season according to german sources

Considering I don't think we own the Etihad? (could be mistaken)

Is there anything stopping Manchester council for kicking us out and making us find a new place to play. The government are obviously opposed to this.
We’ll probably have £300m to buy it or put towards building another one.
Make no mistake the government love cash just like everyone else.

From reading several similar comments it appears there is a school of thought that this is a move by the debt leveraged clubs to write down debts, if this is really the case then UEFA only have themselves to blame. Instead of spending a decade dreaming up ways to fuck us over they should have gone after the yank debt clubs.

This project ensures that there can never be another Sheikh Mansoor or Khaldoon Al Mubarak. There can never be another Man City, or not another story like we have had since the takeover. Because you can't take a team to the top anymore. It's just like the NFL.
What do you mean "it's just like the NFL" ?
The NFL has 32 teams. It's a much more level playing field than exists in European football. All the media and broadcast money is received into the League Office and then distributed equally among all 32 teams to ensure parity. There is a strict salary cap to stop teams paying the highest amounts to secure the best talent. Teams with the poorest record each season have priority to pick the best of that year's collegiate talent via the NFL Draft.
