Clubs have the opportunity to propose new rules or amendments at the Shareholder meeting. Each Member Club is entitled to one vote and all rule changes and major commercial contracts require the support of at least a two-thirds vote, or 14 clubs, to be agreed. https://www.premierleague.com/about
Rule change and commercial contracts? I don’t think that’s applicable here.

this is what I saw,

Sorry if will

We have been played like a fiddle by united, liverpool and the spanish clubs. Absolutely played like a fiddle.

we have just voted to remove our position as one of the most powerful clubs in the uk, with a future that only contains good news, and instead voted to make ourselves literally subservient to United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Juventus and Madrid.

We’ve gone from winning 50% of the next 8 or 10 titles as well as god knows how many domestic cups to finishing mid table at best in this new league as there is no way the clubs that have been trying to cripple us for 10 years will suddenly now treat us as equals.

Played like a fiddle.

And the worst thing is, we weren’t just out manoeuvred - we bloody voted for it.

Voted to give our 5 biggest enemies in world football literal control over us.

How can ANY blue be anything other than 100% opposed to this?
Quite right. I hoped our owners had more brains to sniff out this yankee fox hunt. We are now at the mercy of everyone who worked against us since that wonderdul day in 2008.

This definitely isn’t going ahead now.

I think they’ve misjudged the backlash they would get for this.

Tory government now saying they’ll ban foreign transfers and won’t allow clubs to obtain visas for players.
If that’s true then that’s a Big hit. Effectively an indefinite transfer ban.
How do the ESL get around this since apparently they saw all this coming?

We’ve certainly been outmanoeuvred.

Whether we had no choice but join or not, it is impossible to see how the position we fought hard to get to in the last 10-12 years against this cartel and their influence on UEFA is going to be improved within this structure.

They still hate us and basically have control over us once again.

I can’t see a win situation for the club. Unless the club are only interested in picking up a guaranteed annual cheque.

We had risen to the top and this will just put us back in our place.

And besides, football is the loser. Any football fan could not be happy with what seems inevitable in the future evolution of the sport. I’m 57 but even my 18 year old and all his school mates have expressed the same disinterest in the American sports format being proposed.

It’s the worst thing imaginable, but in terms of City being as strong a force as we are right now, there was no option that saw us maintain that. City are done as the big force in England. The only way to keep that would have been to know somehow that it would fail. City’s competitiveness is reduced whether we are in or out. What a shit few days, I am thoroughly depressed by it all. Football, or more specifically City, has always been my escape. I was struggling as it was with a decreasing interest in the modern game, then this happens.

Reading between the lines it looks like several of the founder members were in shit creek financially and probably couldn’t sustain losses for too much longer.
This is a lifeline for them which makes our joining even worse.
Had we held our nerve we would have had every chance of being the top team/club in Europe for the next decade due to our financial stability.
Now it looks like we are going along with the ride only to be shoved in the back seat and told to keep our mouths shut.
This is what has irked me all day today.

We had the likes of Barcelona, Madrid and the others firmly by the balls, and now we’ve given away a huge comparative advantage which under the proposed format due to the funding structure and permanent status of the founding clubs, we’ll never really have again.

We might have felt that we had to be in rather than out, but we have effectively folded when we had the winning hand.

As a club we’re cashing out now rather than seeing it through to the end, because the cash is more important.

Does this even feel like he's talking about us?

They're only looking after themselves, simple as. What about when half of La Liga goes bust when you leave Florentino?

It’s a mid week competition replacing the champions league, they still want to play all the domestic La Liga league games too.
