I think for once UEFA have behaved with something like commendable sense and moderation AND I think City will consider the penalty to be a very small price to pay to be free of the ESL. The sums involved appear paltry in comparison to the fine imposed on City in 2014,which is unfair, but the financial position of the clubs involved is not good (though better at City!) but the fines do make a point and now leave the way clear to making such a sporting atrocity impossible in the future. So, for City the agenda is pay up, eat some humble pie and win more trophies.

We’re always eating humble pie. Wish we could give it to other clubs & get better treatment

just seen it.

They will also have 5% of Uefa competition revenues withheld for one season, starting in 2023-24, and this money will be redistributed, including in the UK.

Feel better about it all now - cheers

Well with Gill being reinstated to uefa he will be the one who recommended % fine Not the same fine across board which would be fair this isn’t even though it’s being withheld fine!

Legally did we actually join this new ESL organisation?
Our was it just letter of intent or something similar?
It's the joining which seems to put us in breach of the PL rule.
I don't think we'll challenge it unless the fine is considered excessive given that it could be argued the breach of the rule was corrected within 48 hours with no impact other than breach of trust?
The actual rules say 'during the Season a Club shall not enter or play'. We agreed to join the new competition but it hadn't started. I can't see what the PL can do if we get stroppy, if we do agree to any sanction it'll just be to stop them crying.

L.9. Except with the prior written approval of the Board, during the Season a Club shall not enter or play its senior men’s first team in any competition other than: L.9.1. the UEFA Champions League; L.9.2. the UEFA Europa League; L.9.3. the F.A. Cup; L.9.4. the F.A. Community Shield; L.9.5. the Football League Cup; or L.9.6. competitions sanctioned by the County Association of which it is a member.
