WTO rules are coming after the grace periods end. I've not heard one brexiteer explain what those rules mean.

Yeah, but that’s not the point. The point is, the rules aren’t just being imposed on us by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels any more.

They’re being imposed on us by unelected bureaucrats in Geneva, which is completely different.

Back to how Brexit and the NI Protocols are reshaping trade in Ireland. The benefits of NI being in in two ‘single markets’ is also obvious, but how long will Scotland and Wales tolerate the advantage this gives NI without wanting the same? Does the NI protocol show Scotland an economic pathway to independence?

Liking the disclaimer at the bottom of the ‘agreement’ on the UK/AUS FTA. Not so much a FTA, more of an Xmas wish list.

This document reflects what the UK and Australian FTA negotiating teams have jointly decided as of 16 June 2021 should be included in the FTA once it is finalised. It does not prejudge the outcome of the FTA negotiations or any further proposals for FTA commitments either the UK or Australia may make after this date. It is also not intended to create any treaty obligations.’

so effectively they held talks with their fingers crossed behind their backs? Classic Johnson - negotiate a "deal" I don't have to honour please.

Johnson wanted the headlines of ‘Brexit Bonza Aussie Deal!’

Reality is there is no Aussie Deal. Just a framework of what the Aussies want in the deal to benefit their main priority of Agriculture. We already have our priority which is the media headlines.

It‘s like the new Royal Yacht, lots of headlines, ‘Buccaneering Brexit Britain’, whereas the reality is no Dept is prepared to bung £200m down the financial black hole of a yacht that will be effing useless and no one wants apart from Johnson, and even that is debatable. What Johnson wants is the feel good warmth of headlines and the cheers of supporters. Actually building the thing is way down the list.

Is Grainne Seoige being back in Ireland and on Irish TV anything to do with Brexit?

WTO rules. I was exasperated as fuck whenever I heard a brexit supporter talk their bollocks about unelected EU eurocrats imposing their will on us in an undemocratic way. It was insane as saying Westminster based civil servants impose their rules on us without due democratic process.

The EU protects it's interests with rules we were at the vanguard of implementing when we were members. We have left, the grace periods are coming to an end, and the realities of leaving will slowly, but steadily, become clear.

We have no one to blame but ourselves. The rabid right wing press can chunter on about the hateful EUSSR all they like, but it's a self imposed mistake we have made.

WTO rules are coming after the grace periods end. I've not heard one brexiteer explain what those rules mean. It's just a wishy washy mishmash of stopping illegal immigrants without any recognition or understanding of what 3rd country status means, and we can't stop the boats coming anyway.

It is what it is, and it's a shitshow of bullshit, lies and deceit.
Quite a few of the Brexit bullshitters were getting quite tumescent about defaulting to WTO rules when a deal looked like it wasn’t happening towards the end of last year. Odd that now that it’s happening they’re complaining about the EU using them. I thought it’s what they wanted. Anyone would think they didn’t have a fucking clue what they were, but that can’t be right surely…

It’s no wonder they don’t want coronavirus to end. Over a million tests a day with a high false positive rate, new ‘symptoms‘ of Covid now include runny nose, sneezing and a bit of a sore throat (used to be called a summer cold or hay fever) mean it’ll go on and on. Of course, what Covid does do, is provide air cover for the shit show that is Brexit and will allow a multitude of economic failures to be laid at its door.

I wish that really was as ridiculous as it sounds, and I would have dismissed it as farce for any previous government from both ends of the political spectrum, but this government have proven themselves capable of anything when it comes to lying and distortion of facts.

I sort of wish I was a mad conspiracy theorist, but I’m really not..
