EE confirms roaming charges in Europe – follow Brexit
Follow the action as it happenedwww.independent.co.uk
Wouldn’t happen if you were in the SM…….Same keeps happening to sausages between GB and NI...
Roaming charges will be interesting (a complete ballache) along the border.
I've a caravan close to the border...but still very much in NI and our phones regularly switch between UK/RoI.....even when just sitting watching TV....or popping to the shops.....we are talking approx 10miles from the border
I believe NI is exempt from the roaming charges.
Really?? Woop woop..... :)I believe NI is exempt from the roaming charges.
O2 have said they will apply in NI....

eir today, gone tomorrow?I should have been more precise. They don't apply in ROI so given the interconnectivity of NI and ROI then as I understand it they can’t apply to NI users on ROI networks near the border. The roaming charges will apply to NI residents who travel to the continent.
This is my reading of it, so I could be talking bollocks :)
Do NI users have contracts with ROI providers? If they did I imagine NI residents could also escape the charges on the continent.
My contract is with Virgin Mobile....a UK contract....but as you approach and/or approach the border you get a "Welcome to Ireland" roaming notification and if you have roaming on, it just automatically switches to a RoI network....at no extra cost. But i border towns/locations this can happen literally when crossing the road or popping to the shop....I should have been more precise.
