2 of my lads mates made it through Open Regional Qualifying yesterday.

National/Final qualifying tomorrow.

4 courses, 72 players, 2 rounds only top 3 from each course qualifies.

Had our yearly golf trip last week, 6 rounds in 4 days in North Devon - played Royal North Devon and then 2 days of 36 per day at Saunton, then finished with 18 at Ilfracombe.

For anyone who loves links golf then I can’t recommend Saunton Golf Club highly enough, 2 absolutely superb courses, a true test of golf.

Saunton’s top quality and a stinker of a test even without the wind. Played there several times when I was younger. Burnham & Berrow, just over the county border into Somerset, is a really good course as well if you ever get the chance. Not usually a fan of links golf, but enjoyed that a lot.

My game has gone down the toilet over the last couple of years. Was off 9 now 12.
The winning scores in comps are now ridiculous. Net 58 last week. 47 points the week before. Bit the bullet and swapped Pros even though he’s 200 miles away in Someset and I’m in East Sussex. Shot 3 over for 9 the other night so green shoots of recovery.

Wind wasn’t too bad this time round, enough to make it a challenge but nothing stupid, about 15mph.

We tried to get on B&B but they couldn’t accommodate, heard it’s good.

If one of your group hits a slightly errant shot, and goes in the general direction of the professional scouse gobshite, do have the good grace to whisper "fore"
He cried off as it’s too hot. Gullit went and bought a new top and shorts at 9 and again at 18 so he could drink in the bar. How the other half live.
