Harry Kane

It all seems a bit silly to have this drag on for weeks with this end result. City clearly thought that Spurs/Levy would crumble the nearer we got to deadline day and it looks like we got it terribly wrong. For all the name-calling on here, the press were right all along, when they stated a figure and said that Kane would be going nowhere if we didn't pay it. Now we will not only have to deal with not getting our man, but also the loss of the PR war which will no doubt follow.

Some will be happy with the outcome, others not so much. For me the biggest annoyance/frustration is what appears to be a continued pattern of not getting these long-drawn out deals over the line and therefore the complete waste of time. Thank god Grealish had a release clause, otherwise I think it is fair to say that would have been another couple of months down the pan.

We need a striker and I'm sorry but the Kane or nobody attitude really shouldn't apply here. Its one thing having this thought-process when we are chasing a player in a position we are already stacked in...getting Grealish or not getting him was a fair example of this. We cant have this attitude when we actually now don't have a striker of any note at the club. Yeah Torres and Sterling can fill in. We can go with a false 9. We can tell Gabby that he will have to do a stint up top. These are bloody terrible options for a club of our stature.

How can the champions not have a recognised forward of any note at the club? It is a ridiculous situation to be in and one completely of our own making. How long have we known we would have to replace Aguero? Where was our contingency planning?

The Kane situation is clearly a money issue i.e. we cant bloody afford him - I don't believe for one minute that we are making a stand over £25m or whatever that figure is. Maybe, just maybe a bit of forward planning would mean we would avoid spunking £40m on the likes of Ake and then we would have the required funds available for players who would actually make a positive difference to the squad.

Not sure why some people are blaming Kane. He made it evident that he wanted to leave and even failed to return to training on time. Whatever you think Kane is worth, the fact is 150m was needed to open Levy's mouth and everyone knew that all along.

City now have a few days to pull something out of the bag. We need a striker for this season and to have no plan b is worrisome. The success of this season now hinges on what they can sort out of all this mess.
We will be a better team this season than last. Laporte was bobbins last season but is a fantastic player who was just out of form. Sterling was bobbins for the last two seasons (even though he’s scored more than ever) but is a good player who was just lost his confidence. All of our younger players/new signings last season are a year older/more experienced and will be better. We’ve signed Grealish and have more options than ever.

We are still the best team with the best manager. We are still the benchmark. There’s no reason why we can’t have an even better season than last year without anymore signings.

kane bottled it big time
now spurs have a player going through the motions and seeing other players picking up medals at city

levy will be the biggest loser in all of this
It is not Kane but Levy trying to screw us over and it has not worked, let us see what his prize asset is worth next season? The weasly looking twat has cost his club a fortune.

Is this Kane bottling it or us not being bent over by Levy? If it’s the latter I think we’ve missed a trick, would love to have seen him here even if it costs north of 150m. He’s worth 40 goals a season and assists
Only one person has scored 40 goals in all competitions in a season for an English team in the Premier League era.

1) I don’t blame Kane in all this, he clearly wanted City and even avoided training to agitate for a move

2) I don’t blame Levy in all this either, he’s got a player under contract and has set the transfer fee, which he’s entitled to do.

3) I also don’t blame city for not meeting the ludicrous figure that Levy wanted.

Where I do lay blame is at City’s absolute naivety that a deal for Kane will happen and for letting it drag on this long - leaving ourselves without a forward (less than 1 week before the window shuts) and in the process missing out on Messi and Lukaku who were easily achievable.

I voted No when £100M was being bandied around as the price so I’m delighted.

We’re in no worse position than we were last year and were 3 matches off a quadruple!

I think Jesus has it in him to bag 30 goals, given an extended run as a striker, happy with Delap as backup too.

If Haaland leaves next year is it a straight shootout between us and utd?

So help me because I get this feeling and I am not sure if it's true or not. Why does it seem as though we have issues getting Tier 1 transfers over the line? We've had some tier 1 players over the years, but most of them were not considered such at the time of their signing. It seems as though signing bonafide superstars has always been something we have issues seeing through to the end. Am I wrong? Do we just do a better job at saying "no" to unreal prices? Do superstars fear the expectations of Pep? Is it us? The weather? I am also open to it just being my own frustration with seeing so many top tier players linked with us, only to see the same cycle of "staying another year" or ending up with United or Chelsea. I am well aware this could just be in my head. It's not like we don't have the funds, facilities, or status. So what is it?

Same. Yes we need a striker but not at any price. I'd rather go with what we have got and see where we are in January and next summer. We won the league mostly without Aguero last year.

If only money it works like that
What it does show is always take the ITK gossip with a pinch of salt.
Don't get too wrapped up in these transfers as it ain't good for your health
Not sure if this applied here. A few weeks back it looked like those opposed to signing Kane would outstrip people wanting him. For a variety of reasons he was not a very popular choice only when the sand was slipping quickly through the opening did more warm to the transfer and probably out of desperation. Very few tears will be shed as a result of this transfer breaking down. My view is that it may end up being a blessing in disguise.

You don’t blame City but you blame City

well if you see a load of bollocks it’s probably because you’re balls deep in it and looking up.

I’ve literally had the best Messi info this forum ever had as it came directly from him. Two friends were both working on separate projects with him with Messi taking orders from one for 5 hours a day for a week.First time we were heavily linked with him I knew it wasn’t happening and he was openly raging about his tax situation in Spain and using us to leverage Barca and Spain. If city thought they had him that time, worse fools them. Jorge Messi 100% shafted us last year and when Messi became available this year, I think city couldn’t see past Kane and their damaged pride over last year. We may never know but I reckon he’d have come had we entertained it but didn’t want to deal with Jorge Messi again.

I’ve a contact in the agent world and most of what I get isn’t related to city but you can fill in the gaps.

you can literally piece news stories from reliable sources together to see what I put down was based in actual news doing the rounds. So bollocks it was not.

We clearly don’t want to lose Laporte but were happy to offer him to Spurs. He’s moody at the best of times and currently 3rd wheel so offering him to Spurs was insanity(unless you think Ake knows how to play football).

I know for a fact we were offering out other players to prem teams(names I won’t give out but have DM’d to our trusted itk’s to verify) and reading into everything now we approach the end of the window I can’t help but feel we’ve been very cavalier and somewhat disrespectful when it’s come to how we’ve gone about our business this summer.

but you’re entitled to think that’s bollocks too.
Sounds like more bollocks to me.

We did 1 a few weeks ago
