It would be like Cantona signing for us.

It’s the Red arrogance they have, everything that city aren’t and never have been despite our success.
being a small club and liked by everyone and being a big club and jealousy of others is a different thing, With jealousy arrogance comes naturally. Whether we like it or not we have that arrogance now. We think every compitition we play we have to win. We think we are the best club in the world and so on....
We have become what they were and they have become more or less what we were.

Guys we need a big big really big pplayer who carries our game when pep overthinks. Messi did it for Pep while at barca. No one did at bayern and city since then.
We need ronaldo especially in champions league.. Remember he is Mr champions league.
WE NEED TO WIN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NOW.
No need to care he played for united. In fact that will be sweetener for us. United fans will be pissed off
That's the most sensible comment so far. And I just saw his last season 's goal..may be 5-6 penalty but the other ones are from outside the box. Also, heading is still the best.. Imagine the cross from KDB and cancelo.

If Peps publicly tapping out two years early then I’m all for bringing in Ronaldo. We’ll never win the PR battle so I couldn’t care less how we’re perceived. The player seems desperate to join us and that’s enough for me. Get the player in. Chelsea’s got a hell of a squad and we need a CL to complete Pep’s legacy.

FWIW I think it’ll happen. We’re on cushy terms with Mendes. Strong arm move by city declaring how ‘little’ we’ll pay him for wages too. I guess we’ll find out just how desperate he is to join.

73% in favour ? Where have this love for Ronaldo come from ? Is it some kind of revenge over Sancho leaving for United ?

I think people are voting on the basis it feels like Ronaldo or nothing at this stage. And on that basis isn’t it a no brainier?

1. He's almost three years younger than Ibrahimovic, who's still scoring at a crazy impressive rate. And Ronaldo is one of the most physically sharp players in football history. His body at 36 still seems more able than Kane's at 28.

2. A Ronaldo who's lost a lot of his ability is still scoring more than any forward we've ever had (yes, sorry, that includes Sergio- even at his best he never got within 2 of the 29 league goals Ronaldo managed last season) and is certainly still better than any option we have at the club.

3. Got the Golden Boot at the Euros

4. His club clearly are not keen to give him away and are obviously trying to prevent it. Not sure where you've got the impression that they want rid.

I don't think we'll sign Ronaldo, nor do I want him much, but you've still made four arguments that don't really work.
I remain to be convinced. At 36 the fatigue sets in quickly and the drop off could be severe and could occur at any time. The recovery after every game takes longer So that would go against your first 3 points . There is a huge risk but as you say the stats are excellent. He would need to continue what he presently does in the gym, training ground and diet all monitored very closely.
On point 4 I stand corrected but I do feel there could be a ploy to get him a new contract , a better deal. He is possibly happy where he is. Although Messi moving to PSG recently has probably affected his pride a little with the thoughts of a rival winning the CL. Maybe Juve can't compete with us with regard to Champions league progress. This could be a real factor in getting him to come to us. I'm warming to it :-)

I would certainly take him, and he wouldn't be the first player that signed for us, that I hated prior to their signing. The Futcher's, Schmeichel (Peter), McManaman, Anelka, Tevez and Bellamy just to name a few, which all changed after they put on a City shirt...............well all bar McManaman.

I get all the disruption to the squad, and everything will need to be played through him, but do we actually know that will happen? As has been said before, he is Mr Champs League, and I really want that trophy, so I can stop the constant hating about the money spent, without winning it. Also, just think how the rags supporters will react to this.......priceless.

Brazilian Zé Roberto is probably the closest player in terms of being a physical beast to Ronaldo I can think of. He retired at 43. Probably could have kept on playing on if he wanted. There is a Brazilian center back called Hilton who retired on Ligue 1 playing for Montpellier also at 43 years old, and he didn’t show much of a physical decline. This is the reality now. I can easily see Ronaldo going beyond 40 honestly.

yep only scored like 41+ goals. Finished player!
I didn't say that he was finished. I'm saying there's a risk of him dropping off sharply. Provided he keeps his training regime , diet etc then he should be OK. I'm warming to to the possibility of him coming to us.

My two cents on this. Probably not going to happen as we have 6 days left but I think we will pay the transfer fee if Ronaldo accepts the reduced salary. If not , we want him for free.
