Harry Kane

Conte will insist on funds in Jan, they'll need to sell Kane to fund........whether that's us remains the question.

Where else would they sell him? Who else would pay over 100m for him, assuming, that even that is enough.

What a mess Levy has made, though. Putting on a show of Billy fucking big balls for the press all summer when he should have been getting his own house in order.

If they came snivelling back to our door I would say £50m take it or leave it and fuck off.
Been saying since the summer window closed that we should offer £40m the 1 January. Then drop it a million a day.
I'd make this an official stance, brief the press, tell Kane what we're doing.
Take it or leave it.

I hope we’re smarter and more long term than paying anywhere near £100m for Kane. He’s regressed terribly and doesn’t look like he’ll rediscover form anytime soon. I’d be disappointed if we funded Spurs’ rebuilding by paying a silly amount for Kane; I just think he’s nowhere near as good as he was and getting slower every game.

Better to save as much money for going all out for Haaland, he’d be worth any price.

This saga hasn't done either club any favours
Nor the player, who has a World Cup to play in 13 months. And if you'd like to see England do well, which I personally would, isn't a great position for anyone to be in either. It's a proper mess. Levy primarily responsible, if you ask me, but neither Kane or City managed it particularly well either.

Can we get the poll back up?

With this flurry of 'Kane would still score 40 in out team, lets still throw 120m at signing him when there are cheaper and better long term alternatives available' I'm really curious to see how it would look now.

the club did look a little desperate with the need of a striker and spurs being greedy and thought they could milk us.
did aguero get near 40 goals a season ? i think he got 33 once. that target was never on and kane was putting himself in the window with that quote.

haaland is the value for money and long term answer to replacing aguero.
but we could end up with both and city could cut a deal for haaland in the winter window and get him in the summer
then sign kane for £70million

its a crying shame this city squad is striker less ? it should have been solved in the summer and f*uk FFP and the moaners ? funny that utd PSG signed ronaldo and messi but never once said what the wages are ? ronaldo is on £1million a week before tax and messi is on £1.5million a week

ronaldo deal works out to around £150million for 2 years nobody is moaning about that

Levy has an awful lot to answer for regarding the way Spurs have dealt with recruitment / sales etc.

Whilst I don't care for some of their fans, they have been seriously let down by the arrogant sod managing the club.

Out of curiosity, what do you think City did wrong?

Agreed. As with Woodward at United, I take it to be a serious problem when boardroom members are as publicly well-known as managers and players, particularly outside of the club's own supporter base.

It sounds like we trusted Kane's reading of his position far more than we should have done, assuming that letting it play out in the media was going to end up with us getting him. I don't think it was the worst thing in the world, but I imagine people at City wish it had played out differently now. We let it rumble on for far too long, which lead to us then scrambling in the final days and getting burned with Ronaldo.

Conte did wonders with Lukaku, first of all he made him lose weight/

I can see Conte could be be a good coach for Kane as he was clearly getting nowhere with Nuno who could not even get a basic style going.

Conte has his own style, he will deffo favour a quick player next to Kane in a possible 352.

Nonsense.. with Kevs current patchy form… the last thing we need is another player on a mega long lucrative contract who is showing signs of decline. That ship has sailed. We need the to look forward. We should look at our age profile here.. we are not Real or Utd.
Who do you think we will go in for mate ? I don’t think Kane has suddenly become shit but the £150 million is long gone with the fairy’s but I still would take Kane on a discount but I’d say £50 to 75 mill is ok . To get haaland to city Is a tough ask as he would have to drastically reduce his wages for us to even enter the race. The one who I’d like to get is isak thr Swedish kid who has it all and is a lot cheaper than any of the others .

He likes that striker that can hold the ball up for the other striker in his system who is fast to run off him. Lautaro was the quick one that ran off Lukaku who would hold the ball. He's going to do wonders with Son. Kane idk probably why they are getting linked to Vlahovic whos tall and strong and more of a Conte striker.

Could see Kane sold in January for them to have funds

They have a similar issue with Kane as to what we have with Sterling. There'd be nobody willing to pay whatever the selling club wants for the guy in January.

The only club dumb enough to shell out way too much for Kane in January signed Ronaldo, so they won't do it.

Kane's stuck until summer at least. And unless City BOTH fail to get Haaland AND Kane's selling price dips immensely then he'll be stuck there far beyond that, barring a Newcastle bid.
