I know people I like and respect who have totally had it with masks, but I find it a bit harder to accept that people advertise that state of mind with pride. Yes, personal liberty, get Big Brother off our back, etc. But COVID transmission is a real and present threat. I've had the same state of mind since the beginning. The less adults take on the responsibility of taking precautions as early and diligently as possible, the more it gets shunted around, before finally leaving us with no alternative but to use the much harsher measures, having only ensured a brief period of 'freedom' for some, and that we'll end up with more deaths and serious cases than other comparable nations because we didn't bite the bullet at the start, and will still be letting people off to the end.
Take Kids in school as an example . We will literally force them to wear masks, before enforcing the mask thing, or the PM publicly supporting those asking people to act responsibly and dilligently.
Millions of dads and mums and others wandering around breathing over everyone, showing off their status as adults - i.e. can't be told what to do.
That's a hypocrisy. The kids will get that on some level, and - trust me - it will be stored away for later as reasons not to care or do anything when it's their turn.
The phrase is, "Just another brick in the wall".
