Coronavirus (2021) thread

Just think, there was someone in this very thread a couple of days ago saying the pandemic was over in the UK. He even argued with people who questioned him.

That’s a shame but thanks for your efforts anyhow. The posters tone was a bit out of order or just read that way. Keep up the good work.
It was fair criticism. I have no problem with that.

I posted more than intended here but thought the big disparity between north and south in today's numbers needed to be seen by the broader audience in here as it seemed a key change in things today upon which restrictions over Christmas may be - but hopefully are not - created. The media say there have been mutterings about that possibility from politicians today.

But I misjudged the amount. So I have no problem with someone saying so.

He said 3000 this morning in Sky news.

Maybe he has it and it’s affecting his memory?
Maybe the 3000 was Omicron only and the 200,000 is overall.

200k sounds high but if Omicron does take over as the main variant that might well be the norm. I’ve always felt that the true daily infections are perhaps around double the official numbers but 200k is close to 4 times that figure.

I am. Gutted as had so much planned over December as it’s the first time I’ve ever had the whole month off, to see the family and watch City etc.

I am fully vaxxed and thank fuck too as my chest and throat are in a bad way, imagine if I wasn’t !
Sorry to hear that. The good news is you'll only be required to isolate for 10 days from the start of your symptoms, which should comfortably clear you for Christmas.
Wishing you a swift and safe recovery.

Cheers mate. 22nd of December I think is my first day out, at least I’m guaranteed to enjoy Christmas and New Year, safely of course.

More good news from SA. Statisticians this time.
A fall in the death rate of 5/6 or 91%
Notes:
1. Most tests are done on people being admitted to hospital in SA.
2. UK average life span is 82. In SA it is 64.13 the difference covering some of the UKs most vulnerable groups.

The SA hospital admissions are not extraordinary. According to this evenings figure if I read it right they have 488 admissions in a nation that is similar in population size to the UK.

That doesn't sound alarming to me.

Here's the data. I could possibly have misinterpreted it so check if you like.

Who put you in charge?!
It’s a forum, I’ll say what the fuck I like.

Would you have preferred me to soft soap it and say “I hope you don’t take this the wrong way but…”

We discussed splitting the threads for this exact reason, I have no beef with @Healdplace and have backed her on numerous times but I’m just saying there were about 7/8 (at a guess) posts of data that were agreed would be kept to a separate thread.

Who needs figures when we can all just chat shit in here without evidence.
