My lad was due up from down south with his lady for the weekend to go out on Saturday afternoon for a few round the markets (with us), a romantic meal & the theatre as a prezzie for her afterwards

Theatre cancelled as cast are positive, got him to cancel his meal so he can 'do the double' at a later date and he's staying down south so it stops the discussion that me & Mrs Moon don't fancy a packed pm in town by tram.

Sorry he & girlfriend had to miss out but it's undoubtedly meant there's more chance of Xmas at their's for a few days happening.

Mate of mine cancelled his birthday plans this weekend because he’s more worried about being able to enjoy Christmas Day. Would imagine a few are the same.

You're right mate caught it before any vaccine roll out considered myself fairly fit but 4 weeks in hospital 3 weeks in induced coma ventilated taught me otherwise, lucky to survive thanks to the NHS with no ill affects now. The hard part was parting with 4 pints of plasma, a pint of blood for Manchester Uni and one for Edinburgh.
Glad you’re better mate. It must have been fucking scary.

Serious question, christmas get together for 1 day, approx ages 1 over 85, 5 over 50, & 2 over 20s all fully jabbed up appart from the 2 over 20s with 2 jabs,
Safe for everyone or not? (not taking into account my sister in laws cooking)
Where there is doubt, there is no doubt.

I'm a sample of one and therefore no basis for scientific claims but I'm into day 3 of having Covid. I'm 55 and triple jabbed .... quite clearly it's transmissible, even with vaccines, but so far I've nothing more than a bad head cold and a few aches and pains. In normal times I'd be in work with those symptoms but isolating and missing lots (including a 7-0 win) during the current hysteria. I'm not sure where the country/world goes from here but isolations, lockdowns and the destruction of the hospitality sector for what, from my experience, resembles little more than a cold?
You started well,”no basis for scientific claims” ; I’d have left it at that .

You know what me and mine are tripled jabbed ( well daughter will be the last one on Monday ) we all got it when unjabbed and my view is if we get it again the effects will not be as bad ( frankly for me and the Mrs it was like a few days of flu ) but the thing is we will all not be a potential threat to others.

It is very very early days but I suspect that future research will identify genetic and social reasons why some were more affected than others pre-vaccinces.

The anti-vaxxers stance is becoming harder to maintain - my own middle sister is a rabid anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist and that all comes out of Covid-19. I pointed out to her earlier on the phone that current figs are 8.5bn doses in total world wide -3,6bm fully vaccinated which is over 46% of the worlds population. When I put it to her that if vaccines were not successful and were killing people I get

" thats just numbers - you are believing what they tell you"

I asked who they are and why they would tell me that and the phone was put down on me. Its fucking hard.

“Covid causing unprecedented crisis in the NHS”. “Protect our NHS“ says Johnson.
Or, perhaps, it’s the result of austerity politics, lack of investment in social care, and economic inequalities that drive health inequality? A system that has to be so lean, it frequently operates at close to 100% capacity. And, since Covid appeared in 2019, we’ve got fewer beds, fewer staff and fewer social care availability to allow medically fit patients to leave hospital.

Never forget either that this was mainly overseen by the now apparently wise sage Jeremy Hunt.

93,045 confirmed cases of Omicron today……that’s slightly more than the empty seats at the Etihad…..getting serious.
Looks like a “self-isolating” Christmas.
Not for Kyle Walker though - he’ll be off to Sheffield to get some food from his Mum. Then back home for a shag session with a few friends. He must be so grateful to Benjamin Mendy becoming MCFC hate figure #1.

at under 30, about 1 in 20k chance of dying of Covid, 1 in 250k of Dying from the vaccine.

I cant find exact odd of being hospitalised but under 18's but they a seem to be about 3% of hospitalisation. so not the smallest risk really.

Odds of hospitalisation from the vaccines is about 1 in 100k.

Anyone playing the percentage game properly will get the vaccine hands down.
It’s crazy that any footballers would think otherwise.

What has walker dine that's so bad

You don’t remember his transgressions breaching the COVID regulations?? I was so incensed with his selfish and idiotic behaviour that I emailed MCFC letting them know exactly what a prize prick he had been.
A few days later I had a phone call from his agent, Dean Ashton. He informed me that “Kyle is a young player”…….He was 29 coming on 30!!!
He has a consistent track record of unacceptable behaviour at every football club that he has been with. I would have been perfectly happy then if he had been sacked by MCFC as he had brought so much negative press to the club.
Call me “old fashioned“ but I believe that professional footballers represent the club that employ them. We have been very fortunate (or lucky) that our players have been consummate professionals….apart from Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy….who have both disgraced the club.
Do a bit of research and you’ll soon find out why Kyle Walker is not one of my favourite MCFC players. But hey he’s a young lad!!!

He’s fucking top drawer.
He’ll do for me.

That’s your entitlement. No problem with that but I expect an awful lot more from MCFC players.
There will NEVER be a statue to this loose cannon/ potential liability/ off-field arsehole at the Etihad.
Remember his appeal to the nation to “Stay at Home” whilst he was booking prostitutes to come to his house??
Total fucking tosser who is tolerated at MCFC because he has “pace”.

Think historians will marvel at how we decimated our health services at a time when we had an increasingly ageing and overweight population with mounting comorbidities. A decade of austerity was supposedly endured to ‘repair the roof for the next crisis’, but that policy appears even more futile now that the pandemic has blown off the roof, walls, and floorboards.

Interesting editorial in the Jerusalem Post that is calling on the Israeli government to take a more balanced approach to the apparent threat of Omicron. Current restrictions are up for review on December 29th.

Lots of them are mate but he’s great for covering the counter thankfully

2 week firebreak now likely to come in on 27th or 28th report The Times. No indoor mixing, pubs move to outdoor service only and it’s the rule of 6 outdoors. Can’t see compliance being very high this time round.
