Sorry, it was mean't to be a bit tongue in cheek. It does read a bit like you're not bothered anymore because
Chelsea are having a bit of a downturn.

You're right. I'm not particularly bothered anymore because we don't really have the means to put up a fight. Tuchel confirmed this evening that Jorginho was one of the two positive cases this morning. Pretty certain more positive cases will come out tomorrow as the two from today travelled, lodged, dined etc with the rest of the squad until this morning.

I just wish there was more clarity as to what criteria need to be met to postpone a match because of covid.

The media and fans don’t know, but Tuchel and all the other managers do and cry foul when a request doesn’t go their way without saying why. They must know whether the judgement is correct or not.

I read somewhere that the rule is if you can cobble together a squad players 14 players then the game goes ahead and that was the basis for rejecting Chelsea's request today. Not sure how true that is. Just some journo on twitter. Tuchel was complaining about being forced to play Kovacic, Kante and Chalaboah who all just had 1 training session each because they weren't 'injured' so they're part of the 14 when in the normal situation they'd be nowhere near the first team yet.

I am not a Tuchel acolyte, but he does make some valid points. It must be odd for the players to have to look around whenever someone caughs or sneezes and to go home afterwards to their family. Even if the players are to avoid having adult-type parties, they still live among the larger society, which isn't going into a lockdown. They will be in the exposed state tomorrow and two weeks from now. Very few other governments are contemplating another round of lockdown, so they cannot take refuge in a location. To continue to work and perform means daily exercise of retracing one's steps at night and counting the number of times someone had caughed nearby. It is sad and unfortunate for them and for all. Muddling through is the only alternative, I think.

Problem is is that we don’t know that for sure.

We did have to play you straight after our postponed game with Everton last Xmas with 15 players or so.

We just need to know what the criteria is, so we can debate it without ifs and buts and hopefully without bias.

It shouldn’t just be 14 players, if that is the rule. It should be 2 keepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 4 forwards for me.

That gives you a balanced side with room to make at least 1 sub for each position.

Completely agree. Clarity is absolutely needed.

The decisions tree will probably be focused on is it on tv, is it an ‘istory club requesting, is the requesting club likely to help new winner every year mantra, if we pull this game can we shift ref & var fir those Arab tests at city etc so unlikely to see concise transparent clarity from masters

If City had 10 first team players missing, yeah sure you'd turn up and play the games but there's no chance this place wouldn't be up in arms if other teams with similar outbreaks had multiple games postponed. Pep certainly wouldn't be happy about it either.

Tuchel said on MOTD last night that 7 players had covid. He didn’t say which players and he didn’t say 10.

Can you educate us on who the players with Covid are?

Chilwell
Lukaku
Werner
Havertz
CHO

Were in the initial 5.

Jorginho was confirmed by Tuchel yesterday. The 7th is rumoured to be Loftus-Cheek but currently unconfirmed.

I just said 10 because we also have injuries and some of those are exacerbated by being forced to play them when they blatantly aren't fit enough to play.

Chilwell's already injured so doesn't count.

Ziyech not called up for AFCON

He's been feuding with the national team coach for a while now. He was left out of the previous international breaks. It's a personal decision not a professional one, by my understanding.

Watching the chelski v villa game, villa all over chelski, bit of luck they will smash them, then hope lie-cester against dippers finishes with a win for them in a couple of days.

Surprised they're not renewing his contract but I'll be glad to not see him in this league anymore, complete twat (I imagine Chelsea fans love him though).

I would say good business for Real Madrid to get him and Mbappe on a free but with signing on fees, agent fees and wages, it'll be costing them a fucking fortune anyway.

Yup. When a player is on a free, his agent just ups the price of signing. See Alexis.

Chelsea want to keep him but they're not willing to offer him the wages he wants. He can get a lot more by signing with Real Madrid as a free agent than he can hope to get at Chelsea. He's only on 100k a week so one of the lowest paid members of the first team. Werner for example, is on 272k a week, so I understand Rudiger's gripe with the offer that's on the table, which is reportedly around 190k a week.
