Thought he played well and should have had a few assists
21st century Rodney Marsh.
Shoehorning him into the the starting 11 is going to/has cost us the title.
The transfer fee aside, he offers fuck all
Needs a proper striker up front to play to/off. Without one, he's a bit of a luxury and will in most situations end up passing the ball backwards.Run in the box with the ball constantly is what he should have been doing in the second half , wasting the chance for the defenders to have to make a decision , just cant see what he offers getting there and passing it back , very frustrating player and everyone else is moved to squeeze him in
I think phil should have been hooked for raz for that reason , he gets in the right positions for tap in , surprised pep didnt give that half hour as we were getting nowhereNeeds a proper striker up front to play to/off. Couple of good crosses last night begging for someone to try to bundle the ball in from positions that Raheem usually takes up.
It's not rocket science.
We need to be smarter and faster in such circumstance. Our defence needs to drop ten yards and lengthen the pitch rather than take the ball deeper into the opponent‘s half and condense it further. We also need to take greater risks and play more vertical passes than rely on horizontal passes. I’m sure we’ll get more practice in the coming weeks, alas.
You’re talking absolute shit mate, gets dispossessed with ease ??? He rarely gives the ball away and his ball retention is actually one of his strongest assets.my problem isnt that he "does things safely" its that he's fucking shit when he tries to take risks. gets dispossessed with almost shocking ease.
one of us has got to get their eyes checked mate i dont know anymore lolYou’re talking absolute shit mate, gets dispossessed with ease ??? He rarely gives the ball away and his ball retention is actually one of his strongest assets.
ALSO was one of our best creators last night with his risk taking.
Let's talk about the positives here:
1) Has become more aggressive in defense. Tackles more, runs more, tracks back more and etc. Huge improvement compared to the first part of the season.
2) Each time he gets the ball near opponent's box - you always expect something incredible to happen. That pass to KDB when he hit the bar and Jack's movement in small space / between the lines before that pass - reminded me of David Silva.
3) Never looses the ball and never risks too much - more of a team player. For example Cancelo risks a lot and tries to impact the game more, Jack is calmer and tries to support guys.
Definitely he is improving and getting better day-by-day. I'm sure he will be one of our KEY players soon, just give him some time to settle more and grow a reputation among teammates, rest will come, talent and end-product is there..
That would be you. Your "dislike" of Grealish is all over this board. We get it. Maybe give it a rest.one of us has got to get their eyes checked mate i dont know anymore lol
It's been 7 months and he's shown significant improvement. Maybe don't assume he's failed to do anything within a year when that year isn't even done yet.Why do the forwards we get always need a year or more to settle?
I know its not his fault for the price but for £100m I would have hoped he wouldn't need a year to do anything of note.
I'm sure he will come good but for me a really bizarre signing.
Agree, however I dont think we will change. We need to be smarter and faster in such circumstance. Because some have made their mind up and cannot see the good in a player once that is the case.He was the best of the attacking 5 yesterday. Not sure how criticism has fell his way from some.
The problem was really Bernie forgetting how to score, Foden not sure what to do, and Mahrez also missing a few shots.
We win that game with Jack getting normally a guaranteed assist or two as normal then he rightfully gets his plaudits.
Going back to the stats I stated a couple days ago that I said are very useful when talking about players like Grealish (or David Silva)
Jack made 4 SCA (shot creating actions), tied highest with KdB, which resulted in a xA of 1.2, next highest was Kdb with 0.2. He was the key outlet, the players around him let him down.
And as usual, he was the highest (tied with Mahrez) in carrying the ball into the 18 yard box.
he offered two assists last night. Not his fault no one scored them

I mean at least half of my comments about grealish are praising him when he does something right but okay, continue lying for absolutely no reason, 2 messages on this forum user. That would be you. Your "dislike" of Grealish is all over this board. We get it. Maybe give it a rest.
That’s total jibberish though. You could ask as he’s only scored 4 goals all season, how many assists has he cost others?
I don’t really rate him, never have. But he played well in the derby and again last night. But not one City fan will have thought Grealish is going to win this game for us.
Last night, certainly late on was the time for Jesus & Sterling. Two players with a knack of grabbing the important goals.
