Unfortunately he needlessly did something that was pointless against Leipzig. Pep's right for calling him out on this. As much as Kyle is a seasoned professional, he still has these (not often) brain farts where he does things that you'd expect from the younger, social media (look at me) types. He's not a kid, and should know his limitations and responsibilities. He's a great player, and should be a leader by now - akin to Kompany, De Jong etc etc. I hope he doesn't miss the opportunity to be a City legend, simply because he feels it's more important to be 'one of the lads'.

Agree with this.

His anger has depleted the team and could be vital in the next game. He’s not a kid and should be leading by example. I was furious when he did it and assumed a three match ban. I’m not surprised that Pep is still upset with him.

Everything we have is built on the team ethic. I’m pretty sure that the rest of the players feel the same way as Pep.

Yeah, if he was 10 years younger it'd be frustrating but you'd hope it was a learning point, a moment of recklessness he'd now know not to repeat.

At the stage he's at in his career, it's really disappointing. Didn't seem to be any mitigating context at all, just a moment of madness.

It's infuriating because he's such an integral part of how we play.

Walker not picked for the England squad yet Shaw and Maguire are.

Is it safe to assume that's it for Walker's international career unless rivals are out injured?

This is like last time, Walker hasn't been dropped. His place is that assured that he's just being rested so the 1000 other options can have a go.
Yeah, to be fair, if Southgate doesn't know what Kyle can do by now, or if Kyle's not able to slot into whatever variation of England squad is eventually chosen, then we've got serious problems.

Sometimes I feel like I've stumbled onto a forum for people who don't watch football.

Southgate's cleared it up now. Perhaps he play for England even longer if he keeps playing as one of 3 centre backs.

He form has fallen away this season, it's not shock he has been left out.

We all know Walker is prone to the odd brainfart and he had a mare against Spurs. Perhaps not been as good as previous seasons, but a bit harsh to say his form has fallen away. He still has that pace which at present no one else can offer in the rb role and that is a key factor.

Southgate likes to choose between back 4 or back 5, and Walker slots in both setups very well. IMO Walker's pretty safe in his squad.

One of my favorite players and a unsung hero but he has not looked anywhere near previous levels the last couple of months.

His fault for Mane's goal.

Sometimes thinks his all he needs is his pace to get him out of trouble.

I think sometimes he enjoys giving his opponent a bit of extra space, so he can show how powerful, speedy and dominant he can be. In fairness he normally comes out on top in these situations. However, doing it against Liverpool, 20 yards from goal is another brain-fart moment.
