Their form was so bad beforehand.

They have beaten a relegated Norwich and had three home games on the bounce against Wolves, Leicester and Palace.

At the start of this month they lost 5-1 to Spuds and also lost to Everton.

The biggest hope must still be Liverpool are weary from a tough game on Wednesday.

If the Geordies get all giddy and open up, Liverpool will be happy.

We will have to win all our games to win the title.

Newcastle have won more points per game than any club other than Liverpool since the start of the year.

You can’t put performance over 15 odd games down to playing easy opponents, they’re the 3rd best team in the league right now.

I believe the fixture list can and does afford teams that.

Watford (H), Leeds, Everton twice, Villa (H), West Ham, Brentford, Brighton (H), Southampton (A good result), Wolves (H), Leicester (H), Palace (H)

Chelsea and Spurs are the only top six sides and lost to both, albeit unlucky and robbed at Chelsea.

It's been a decent set of fixtures.

Liverpool will not drop 1 point

Nothing is certain.

Attach probabilities to any of their league games and calculate the overall probability of 5 wins. The latter won't be anywhere near 90 %, let alone 100 %. If we give them 85 % chance to win each of the remaining league games, then the overall chance for Liverpool to win all of them is under 50 %.

A Leeds win tonight would be great for us.
Not sure it would make that much difference.

5Live had a former Palace player (not sure who) on before the Brighton match. He reckoned that teams that are safe are more dangerous to City and Liverpool. They’ve no pressure, can play with a bit of freedom, and can get a huge kick from impacting on the title race, even if they don’t care who wins it. He played in Palace’s 3-3 with Liverpool in 2014 and described it as the highlight of his career even though there was nothing at stake for Palace. And you couldn’t say that Brighton put in less effort than Watford

If Leeds lose tonight they’ll be very nervy on Saturday.

If we had the media presence of other clubs that no penalty given against Liverpool would be repeated ad naseum until they concede one.

They are in great form but we given Newcastle some absolute top spankings in recent years, especially at home. They have nothing to play for but pride and i can't see them putting in much effort tbh.

The Newcastle players literally play for their future: those who don't perform well will be sold in the summer. Also, Newcastle will want to show they are becoming a force. They'll be motivated to get a result.

Yes agreed TH but Howe will want to win or at least put up a big effort as they are going to come to the top table sooner or later with their finances. This is a good test for them.
It all depends on midweek results, but yes a 1230 gig after a Weds CL game is Klopps worst nightmare, he's already making his excuses.
But Newcastle may have a say in the title race, hopefully they get something from Liverpool and we turn them over a week later.

I agree, think Liverpool will edge all their remaining games if they beat Newcastle, which is their biggest challenge because of the short turnaround this week.

We have seen a few times before with City how the 12.30pm kick-off after the Wednesday can make a draw seem like a good result in the end.

Personally. I believe our toughest games our are next two, either side of the Real games.

A major game for Leeds, all contrived to see us fail in the 5.30pm kick-off, followed by an in-form, counter-attacking Newcastle at our place, with nothing to lose.
The fixtures have fallen very kindly for us. We have 4 days to prepare for Leeds. Liverpool have 70 hours to prepare for what is a tougher game at Newcastle. Then we both have a similar time span to each other to prepare for the following home prem games of which theirs (v Spurs) is the tougher. I can see us being 3 to 5 points clear by the evening of Sunday May 8.

Lets hope the officials do their job at Newcastle.

If we play the way we played against the likes of Atletico at home, then we will easily win, but it’s if pep makes too many changes for example changing 3 of the back 4. We just have to be clinical!!

Hmm, i get what you're saying but let's all hope their minds are on being on a sunny beach.
They won’t be on the beach against City or Liverpool. They’d get a huge kick out of beating either or both of us. They’re playing to stay at the club. And they know that if they take it easy against either of us they risk humiliation

I agree with you but now they have mid table security they may not be as mentally focused and up for it as us or Liverpool. Let's up they're switched on against the scousers but not against us.
