Real Madrid (H) | Post Match Thread

Not sure what else Laporte was meant to do with their 2nd goal as he was tracking Benzema’s run.

It was a great turn by Vinicius to get past Ferdy, sometimes you just have to admire the quality of the opposition. I even think Walker will have his work cut out containing him.

Either way what a spectacle for both sets of fans and the footballing World as a whole.

Roll on next week.
Yeah, I think some of the criticism of Laporte for that has been harsh. He's one player tracking two, and he's decide that he's going to track the run and hope his keeper closes down the space.

The result still hurts, concerning how they missed so many ridiculous chances and gave Madrid the goals. It could‘ve been Bayern Barca 2.0, but instead it feels like the game vs Atletico Madrid. As 4-3 is the same as 1-0. Defending an one goal lead

Sorry mate, don’t agree.

Laporte looked to Zinny as they were on the back foot and saw Rodrygo chasing up the right wing, so he correctly continued to track Benzema. Otherwise it would have left Zinchenko with two attackers to deal with.

Vinicius was simply too good/quick for Ferdy and (Foden?) chasing in his slipstream.
Where the fuck was Dias

If you think Madrid are favourites I think you'll get favourable odds on them making the final. I don't know what the odds will be as I'm not a gambling man but I probably could have made a small fortune over the years if I'd gone with my gut feeling, but I've never bet on City losing and I never will.
Man City are currently 2/9 and Real are 3/1. I've seen this happen with Liverpool in the league, when City fans say matter of factly that the opposition are now "favourites" without seeming to understand what the phrase means. City are favourites, but are up against a very talented team that could win, but we are definitely favourites.

Going to be a tough one next week in front of their lot, but we've already proved this season we can handle a partisan crowd no bother. Not sure about throwing Walker right back in after an injury, fingers crossed he can get some minutes under his belt this weekend. Hate that we left them 'alive', but they have some amazing quality.

Unfortunately this is what we're becoming. That's a disgrace lol
Some very gleeful faces there. Isn’t that Madrid fans who have managed to get tickets in the home stands?

If not, what the fuck are the so happy about?

loved it last night, its all we ever dreamed of while we were up and down the leagues like a yoyo, were in the big time, globally known and pissing off the scum, can it seriously get any better, forget 6 of the goals last night and if we had baged a 1-0 in the 93rd minute every one would have been buzing and going crazy

Only just watched the highlights. It wasn't as noticeable (where I sit) that Laporte should've gone across on the 2nd goal. Arguably Eddie could've come out sooner to narrow the angle too.

Apart from that we were unlucky, except for Mahrez shooting into the side netting. He should've tried slipping that across for Foden.

Barring that we were excellent and proved we are the most entertaining team in Europe - which would happen more if teams in the PL were braver.

Good result.
We take a 1 goal lead to next week.
The way that Real play (very open) I can see us scoring at least 2 goals, may be more. That then puts the pressure on them, as they will have to score at least 3 or 4 to progress.

since 1960 the final between RM and Eintracht Frankfurt was accepted as the best game ever, by pundits all over the media mainly the press, obviously, but also TV, and the cinema via Pathe News. Last night's game deserves to be remembered as on a par with that game. Barely a trace of shit-house tactics: the contrast with the thuggery from AM could not be greater, a credit to both clubs. I can only speculate, but surely to fcuk waverers/tourists/neutrals can only have been impressed with City, it's the best kind of publicity. Just need to finish the job in Madrid.
