Phillips can play no.6/8, knows how to press, technically good enough and has an engine. We saw in the euros what he's truly capable of, didn't look out of place in any game and played to the same level as basmati. 26 YO which is the bracket we seem to like, also homegrown. For a cut price too? It makes sense. We can't use the academy for every position... I imagine McAfee and Palmer get more minutes next season. When we're fighting for all comps we need depth.

That's probably prudent in most cases, but I go pretty hyperbolic on Rodri. He wins the ball back more than anyone else and loses it less than anyone else. That's pretty much all you can ask for in that role

Not sure Rodri is Fernandinho's heir.

Good player but Fern could marshall the midfield by himself whereas Rodri needs Bernardo and Foden, etc to do the running for him.

That's a requirement of the system. David and Kev used to run like fuck to help and part of the reason we brought fullbacks inside is to close off space in midfield on the counter.

I’m a little uncomfortable with the downgrade in some of these targets and hoping they’re bluffs. I can’t be the only one seeing this. Other clubs are aiming higher. Haaland won’t solve all our problems

I think he is an Arsenal/Spurs level player. He's good but not great.

Yeah he was bad. Had one good season when made to play left back.

Like i said we dont have to have top class but we can have good. Imo Phillips isn't good. He's found his level with Leeds.

But what if he came up levels with better players and a much better manager?

Philips can certainly put his foot in & break up play & his best asset is definitely tackling

Going forward & delivering once he's broken play up isn't at a level City need

Box to box he is 5 out of 10

As others have posted, he's relatively cheap for an England starter and would likely accept rotation with Rodri, who is our Fernandinho heir.

We need legs and a bit of bite, he has both.

My only issue would be his ongoing injury problems, although Leeds do seem have have a lot of them.

Supposed to be a fantastic lad and very humble.

Something Pep does appreciate.

I’d LOVE Phillips. Seems like a perfect fit for the squad and club.

Squad needs bulking up too, can’t all be expensive superstars.

Cucurella and someone like Phillips or Ward-Prowse would be decent fillers and not cost the earth.

Not really. He’d also most likely be the player injured anyway. He’s been out most of this season.
