Not good enough for us. If we are going to spend more than 35m£ on him, it's ridiculous. We can find a way better player if we will scout around Europe. Typical Beguirstain - no negotiations, but release clauses.

I would presume there’s a clause. Sounds like someone close to the player is talking. To reiterate I think he’ll be a top signing. I remember when we signed Gundo and Ferna there was a similar level of negativity. Not saying Phillips will have that type of impact but he has the potential to.

I hope so. The Nations League will make it tough, but I'd be desperate to get him in before they let Raphina go. If there's no release clause and Raphina goes first we're going to be in a transfer saga I fear.

On a technical level Phillips isn't anywhere close to Whippy and Ferna, as best I recall the majority were ecstatic when we signed Gundo and Ferna.

Wasn't there talk of a relegation release clause? Given that won't now be active he's going to cost between £50-60mil - which has to be a no thanks.
 
I hope he does have a release clause but it appears he only had a “relegation clause.” There was talk of Leeds wanting to give him a new contract (current one expires in 2024) and his agent would insist on a release clause in the new contract.

I don’t think anyone really knew who Ferna was. And the Gundo summer the forum melted down because Pogba was the only the player who could replace Yaya. I’m sure there were plenty about like me who were buzzing at signing Gundo. But it wasn’t sexy. This forum is obsessed with sexy. Just look at the wankfest around Felix, who isn’t joining City.
 
Spurs have bought Hojbjerg for 15m£ and he is a better player than Phillips. Waste of money, we could scout tons of better midfielders around Europe.

Felix thing is similar to Pogba as you sort of mention above, all I ever hear with Pogba “he has so much ability” does he?! Same with Felix, I prefer to rate on what I’ve seen and he hasn’t lit up at all for club or country.
 
With Felix is more of a player swap and it just a hypothetical scenario than any real links to the player. Neither club will lose too much quality
