Next Captain

For what its worth my thoughts are

KDB will be made "Club Captain"

Gundogan, Dias, Sterling (if he stays) & Walker will then make up the "Captains Group"

I know what you mean but, imo, defenders have a better view of what's going on ahead of them than midfielders, particularly attacking midfielders

Of course, as an ex-central defender, I would say that!

De Bruyne only plays attacking mid cos we have other players more specified for that position. IF he had to, he could play def mid. De Bruyne is more box-to-box than just an attacker, but we have suitable midfielders that occupy those positions where he doesn't have to.

Defenders marshal the back line. Midfielders marshal the middle AND affect the attack as they dictate what happens. The captain is about a leader, not what can be seen.

Did you see Dias on the bench v Villa.. rousing the players at 2-0 down when everybody else looked crushed

natural leader and organiser. Got to be him

Leading and organising from the bench?

De Bruyne plays through injury to drive the team!

As everyone can tell I have HUGE admiration for De Bruyne as he plays like I would want to for City! I REALLY hope he gets the armband to continue our legacy of great capts of great teams!

Debruyne was the first one to pick players up when we went 1 and 2 nil down, he's not only the best player at the club but got natural leadership abilities as demonstrated by him in his development as a footballer.

Foster parents episode, walking out on jose, and then going on to become one of the best players in the world is indictive of a man with strong mindset and determined personality, and he can be a bit of a hot head too which isn't a bad quality at all imo because he isn't stupid.

City needs an aggressive captain and there is no one better than Debruyne right now

Dias, a leader on and off the pitch, intelligent , well spoken and a superb ambassador of the club.

Dias needs to earn a little more respect and gain some experience first.

it’s all well and good to shout your defenders into place, but being the Captain is so much more than that.
He earnt the respect of the dressing room within weeks of arriving.

He transformed the season for us, his leadership and commitment was magnificent, even more so considering his age.

I would tend to agree, although I’ve always found it strange to have keepers as Captain.

I think City fans are SO in love with Dias they see past his flaws and weaknesses. I think another few years developing his game wouldn’t go amiss, before becoming “the” Captain.

I have no problem with him being on the list, but I believe other players are far ahead of him in terms of the respect players had for Kompany, or Fernandinho, or Gundogan, or DeBruyne. Indeed, I would place Rodri ahead of Dias in the “young Captain” stakes.

As I said, it’s about so much more than who is willing to bark out orders on the field.

Given the 3 players listed in the poll, Dias is a distant 3rd in my book.
