If the fee is correct. I think it just reflects our genuine desire to sell him. Not because he is bad or anything. He has exceeded all expectations by a lot. But we will not see his true potential at City because we are loaded with better options in midfield. And i think the club see Cucurella as a big upgrade. Cucurella is supposed to be pretty good defensively as well.

There is definitely some recency bias with Zinchenko because of that 2nd half against Villa. Without it, people would remember the West Ham game and would want him sold.

Yes, I thought of that. He wasn't alone, but his limitations were definitely exposed in that game. Look, he just isn't a fully rounded defender, there's the truth of it. He's done very well, but I hope, for his sake (but not for ours) that he gets to play in midfield at Arsenal more often.

Although they're going to be sorely missed, I can deal with losing Jesus, Sterling and Zinchenko. The hard part will be watching them play week in week out for another English team.

All three have been synonymous with Pep's City which has dominated football in this country for the last five years so to watch them now potentially building a legacy at another club in the same country is going to feel odd. I think it would have been a lot easier to take if they had gone abroad.

Why does this guy romano reports low fee everytime we sell someone that really shows that he doesn't have sources at our club . Fraud

He never was a defender of any sorts to start with. I think he has never played for Ukraine as a defender. It was Pep's idea, out of necessity, I think, that got him into left back, and his skill on the ball just what Pep would want from any player. Remember, Pep is a great disciple of Cruyff, and that Dutch team was stuffed with eleven inside forwards. Even the goalie was an inside forward, and bombing on from left back Zinky was as good as any 'bombing on' left back we've had, Clichy, Kolarov, but when yer need to defend there were occasions when his 'creativity' got the better of him. The one I remember is the misplaced pass in the Watford Cup Final that led to the one on one that Watford missed before we'd scored our first. Mind, had that gone in I suppose we'd have won 6-1. But the odd goal can lead to dropped points and no matter what attacking element Pep espouses he still wants a water-proof defence.

Not me. I can safely say that.

The Villa game for me is what Zinchenko has always predominantly been about, underrated but instrumental in our success. Without it, I would still feel that way. All the lengthy winning streaks we went on, he was always a part of, and one of the key reasons for controlling games. Including against big teams, like his outstanding performances against liverpool, psg, utd etc.

The West Ham game was one of those oddities that he had in him from time to time. Which many of ours have as well.
If that had been his last game, I am absolutely certain I would still feel the same about him.

Will wait to see what the actual fee is before calling it piss poor. We will miss having him as an option. Best of luck to him, we move on, we will strengthen.

this would leave us with 0 left backs, mental. I guess the brighton lad will sign now

It will leave us with the player who made the PFA team of the season at LB ahead of Robertson.

And also Ake who started at LB a QF game in the CL and did well. We'll sign a new LB as well, no worries.

Assuming we get Cucurella, who is the other lb assuming we are still looking at 2 players for each position?

Might not be a LB, we might go with another RB. Kabore perhaps, with Cancelo being a LB when needed. I struggle to think we's go with just 3 again. But possible, now Ake is meant to be staying.

A lot of problems would go away if they kept Kabore. But also seem Wilson-Esbrand training with the first team already. Could be him too.

He was abysmal v West Ham but that wasn’t his normal level. The way he changed the game against Villa wasn’t his normal level either. No player should be judged off one-off performances and where Zin is concerned, I know that since he has been here he has grown into a very capable player who has played an important role in our success.

Gutted Zin looks like he's on his way, one of my favourite City players mainly for his total commitment whenever picked to play.
Anything less than 35m and it's a poor deal, don't help Arsenal out any more ffs
Same here, I really hate to see him go. He's definitely one of my favorite players.

I agree. But the reason i think it's the right thing to move Zinchenko is because he is the most obvious player in the current squad we can "upgrade" on. Imagine having a good (even top) left-footed LB who you can depend on for the whole season.

Zinchenko has been with us for 5 seasons i think? He has had a good spell in every one of those seasons. And it's usually at the end of the season when we have injuries (or Cancelo is out of form). But not a single season where Pep could depend on him for the whole season. I just don't think Pep trusts him defensively.
