The thing is what if Cucu has his heart set on joining City & playing for Pep. He could easily turn down Chelsea if he doesnt fancy them for whatever reason. Brighton then will be a bit stuck having accepted a bid for him but unable to sell him. Its happened a few times over the years. The spanish connection at City may swing it. Lets see what materialises.
So you think Chelsea would waste time bidding for a player that does not want to join them?

Well I really hope that your correct.
I still think we will have a surprise up front, we look weak in that area for me, have we replaced Sterling?

Alvarez is a straight swop for Jesus, Haaland the long term replacement for Kun.

If Grealish does not kick on we are weaker than last season.

Palmer will get more mins but he is still a kid learning his trade.

we replaced Sterling with Grealish basically, only problem Sterling did provide serious number of goals from wide areas over the years. If Grealish scores 5 PL goals a season thats already a good season based on his record.

Mahrez kind of has to replicate last seasons numbers which wont be easy as imo that was an unexpected high scoring season for him especially if he will have more game time. and Haaland-Alvarez has to hit high numbers too right in their first season to balance out the lost goals room Jesus, Sterling.

So we replaced a goal scorer with a player who scores less than 5 goals a season and doesn't create as much chances as the guy he is replacing?

I really hope Palmer is Sterling's replacement, if not Palmer then I believe there's still time to dip our hands into the transfer market and get a decent winger to create chances and goals for the team.

There's just no way anyone in the management team would think of Grealish as Sterling's replacement.

Haaland + Alvarez can score 45 goals between them, which would be 15 more than Sterling and Jesus did last season.

Foden, Grealish and Palmer can score 30 goals between them: say Foden 17, Grealish 8, Palmer 5.

Etc.

Normally, Pep's teams score the most.

Question, what’s everyone’s giddiness about Cucurella? Nobody, and I mean nobody, had heard of him 12 months ago. In fact he’d gone under my radar all last season and I knew nothing about him until this thread. Not one top team in any league we’re after signing him or am I to believe Brighton was always his dream destination over say Turin, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Paris etc etc.
I really don’t get the hype over a potentially half decent player who’s had a half decent season at a very average mid table club. Bar his career highlight of Brightons player of the season, what exactly makes him so special and worthy of £50m?
I suspect it’s more frustration or desperation from fans, to what looks an easy solution to a problem, than his actual stats or ability but I could be wrong.
To command a £50m price tag, equal to what the worlds top LB’s have previously sold for, he must surely have something I’ve missed? Not his one international cap, more a justification for people to hype him so much at world class LB price marks. So can anyone share it so I can understand?
One international cap, one player of the season award and one season in the premier league with an average side…. Help me out guys and gals because I’m missing something clearly.
I’ve no doubt he’d sign and be crafted in to the player Pep wants but he’s far from a finished article and far from a top player currently, he’s nothing special at present and as seen with links today there’s equally good LB’s available (stats wise) that are a fraction of his price. This is why when I read “just pay the extra £10m” I have to scratch my head. We shouldn’t be having to pay £40m let alone £50m for a potential future star.
Not looking to argue, I just genuinely don’t get it and can’t understand the uproar and demands to up our bid other than maybe due to desperation or fear.
If the lie gets repeated enough times it becomes the truth. Everything you have written is correct. Fans acting irrational over a player we hardly know anything about borne out of frustration. I don’t get it either. City will still compete and hopefully add more trophies this season. If the right lb is available we will sign him if not we won’t.

They’ve gotten rid of Mcatee today mate. Thin everywhere.

That's ok, we still have Palmer. He has replced 3 players already, why not McAtee as well. Besides, John Stones can play at RB, so we are fine at the back too.
