McAtee has gone on a season long loan to Sheffield United

Rumours of more players leaving. Bernardo being linked with PSG in addition to Barcelona now. Paqueta mentioned as a possible replacement.

Full Back Situation: All sorts of players linked. All the usual names plus a player with the great name of Destiny Udogie (say it in a mid west American drawl) Bluemoon posters arguing a lot with each other over the current transfer policy and where we might be heading in the last weeks of the window.

A day of rumours rather than any strong links.

4 days to the start of our season.

The window closes 11PM on 1st September (27 days left)

I’ll post one of these most evenings around this time on this thread

You are welcome.

Please note this isn’t a summary of what is in the news, what I reckon or what will definitely happen. It’s only a summary of what is currently being discussed on the transfer forum

That makes it sound like they think Cancelo hasn’t played left back before, not remebering he played most of last season there. We need a left back for cover and certain games and we’ll get one. For the majority of games though Cancelo would be fine.
We've got 2 fullbacks and 50+ games to play, plus a world cup. Ake can play a few at left back if need be, Stones could play a few at right back if need be. Until we sign at least one full back, it's our weakest position in terms of depth.

I don't see us going through the season like that, but that's the current position and I can't imagine Pep would be happy having made do at left back for the last four seasons

We needed a left back when Zin played left back in truth. Pros, Nice lad, didn`t cause us a problem, Not bad when dropping in and supplementing the midfield while playing at left back.

Cons not strong enough, not fast enough. Struggled to get to the by-line to get a cross in and not great at defense.

I always wanted him to succeed, he just never reach a level
I wonder what you thought of Delph's impeccable performance at left back in the centurion season? Did you gnash your teeth seeing the team play so well without a so called proper LB. Let's go back more recently to the start of 2021 and how Zinchenko was one of the star performers in our team that snatch the league title(which BTW did not include his lookalike that undeservedly won PFA POTY) and also got us to a CL final.

Zinchenko never featured much last season because of health concerns but he did manage to save the season and end his career at City on a high note with his fortuitous sub that helped us make a comeback and retain the title. With his recent play and results, I fail to see how anyone could not qualify him as anything less than an excellent backup that played a big part in our success.

Should I remind people how much he was bought in comparison to that disaster of a first choice left back that never made much impact and lasting contribution on the field even when he was healthy. Let's just say I like Oleks and preferred his style to Cancelo and other so called "proper" LB's in the league.

You are aware he’s a right back? Filling in is ok but permanently needed and we are struggling. Lack of balance with no left footed left back, then playing a right footed winger also means we are cutting in and predictable. An overlapping left footed left back would help us in more ways than one.

I don’t think Guardiola accepts such demands. I also see Cancelo starting more than Walker at rb this season, Walker is getting on.
Your right it’s Guardiolas way or the high way and there are no guaranteed first team players that being said he know that players expect to play a certain number of games especially senior players Cancelo is one of them and I just not sure I see how Cancelo would play enough if we got Gvardiol and Sergio not even sure Gvardiol would get enough games

good

Rather have Ake ...Pau Torres is overrated big time
Would of been decent replacement for Ake but the better option was to keep Ake. Chelsea don't rate Ake too highly otherwise they would of matched our valuation.

Agree with 5subs rule the opposite will play with set of wingers and full backs to run at your defense. I would not be surprised that it will be a common scene to see a change of full back around hourly mark. It is what Liverpool did to us in the last game. Remember how many times Roberson and TAA charging forward? While we rarely see Cancelo or Walker joining the counter on time.

For what it’s worth Pol Ballus and Sam Lee on the Athletic podcast were saying that the reason City let Zin go was because they were very confident of getting Cucurella having the player on board with coming here.

As a few Brighton fans were saying Bloom never gave City a price other than to point to the Ben White transfer of £50 million and say they value Cucurella more than White.

They said that City realise they miscalculated and the plan was definitely not to start the season with only two full backs. They mentioned City are doing everything they can and know they have to be quick now.

They both thought City would react positively and that it had been a long while since City made an error in the Transfer Market.

Quick regarding what? Getting a replacement or paying up for cucurella?
