Bernardo Silva

City’s transfer policy of not keeping players who want to leave, walking away from bidding wars and no knee jerk signings has served us well. This makes me think we’ll let Bernardo leave and we won’t panic buy a replacement. I’m pretty sure Bernardo’s replacement has been identified and the wheels are in motion. Might not be available yet though…

I want neymar in if bernardo leaves. Neymar is Not actually bernardo type but grealish will play his role neymar wide or behind haaland. They will all rotate. Tolmee said neymar is waiting for oir phone. May be we will call.
I agree, Grealish has everything he needs to prosper on Bernardo role and Neymar is great player who woul elevate us to another level.

We all knew this was coming, they've know at the club for ages, and should have been more proactive in trying to find a replacement. Saying its a shame would be a massive understatement.

The club have briefed >£80m and a replacement required. Surely they wouldn't have briefed that, especially so recently, if they weren't gonna stick to it

Can't see Barca paying £80m and can't see us getting a replacement... so in my mind he's staying whether he likes it or not

Can’t believe the signings they’ve made though with €1.5bn debt!
I'm just waiting for UEFA/G14 to say a fuckin word to us! They brought in FFP to stop City & to stunt our progress.

12 years later, how much collective debt are ManUre, Real, Atletico, Barça, Juvé, Milan & Inter in?

It's gotta be pushing £4bn - £5bn between em? Perhaps one of our resident accountants can tally it up? Meanwhile City owe comparatively zip, zilch, zero, niet, nowt, fuck all...

Poetic justice! :-)

Update: Fuck me! This lot are over £5.5bn in debt! :-/

Position Club Debt
1 Tottenham £1.2 billion
2 Barcelona £1 billion
3 Atletico £804 million
4 ManUre £771 million
5 Inter Milan £757 million
6 Juventus £752 million
7 Real £651 million
8 Arsenal £405 million
9 Liverpool £386 million
10 Everton £353 million

Find it hard to believe he’s not flying private if he’s going to Barcelona for 1 day.
Good point. He would be flying private if he was flying to Barca to discuss a transfer

He's probably gone to Lisbon for a couple of nights on the piss

How do you know they haven’t been proactive in finding a replacement mate?

You know how thoroughly we scout and plan for every potential signing we bring into the squad.

If the Club have known for ages about this, like you say, why do you think it’s likely they would decide to abandon their entire scouting and acquisition approach just in this one isolated case?

Nah mate, Jack Gaughan already stated if s number was agreed AND a replacement signed before a deal for Bernardo was done. I just think with KDB and Gundogan going to be 32 in a bit , Mahrez aging as well , this bloody World Cup coming up mid season that it could be an opportunity to bolster the squad with zero extra spend?
Sorry pal, meant it's more likely we'd sign no one than sign 2. I completely agree with you - I think the club should sign someone before Bernardo goes anyway, as at the worst it boosts our squad.

Yeah I agree with @Ric on this, city will have a deal ready for when Barca confirm they can do our number that they’ve been told.

I would say it's 99.9 % certain a replacement is primed and ready if this deal does finally happen.

Irrespective of right player, we will be short on number

DEF: (1) Walker; (2) Cancelo; (3) Dias; (4) Laporte; (5) Stones; (6) Aké.

MID: (7) Rodri; (8) Phillips; (9) Gündo; (10) Bernardo; (11) KDB; (12) Foden; (13) Grealish; (14) Mahrez; (15) Palmer.

ATT: (16) Haaland; (17) Alvarez. (list from Llyod Scragg on Twitter)

17 including Palmer plus Lewis JWE Delap mbete Gomez.
We are absolutely short on numbers

Not arguing about that am just saying Pep might think he can get by till the World Cup! How many games is that? 15 more games or something?

It's either Lucas Paqueta or Grealish will be move up to midfield and we sign another winger instead.

Either way, we will surely have replacement lining up. Hopefully not near deadline day.
