I've worked all my life, paid my dues.
Never signed on. Worked all through covid, no furlough. I was deemed an essential worker at the time.
Got covid 2 weeks ago, off work, no pay.
I'll get fuck all help off this bunch of cunts, I just know it.
Johnson can shove his kettle up his fat arse.
What sort of kettle are you boiling it in , hope it’s a cost efficient one?I’m always giving extra hours at work due to staff shortages and like you, was classed as an essential worker so no furlough.
Most weeks I will rack up at least 2-3 hours in unpaid overtime and like you, I caught the covid and had to take enforces time off because of it and like you, the company couldn’t seemingly wait to deduct my salary.
It boils your piss.
The reality of the DD is that we are used as their cash flow and in normal times I’d be fine with that but we are anything but in normal times I’m afraid.
OFGEM should immediately put a stop to the scam that is the DD discount so we have the choice to pay for what we use without further financial penalty.
And yet, we still just get on with it, do our best, because that's the way we were brought up. With values.I’m always giving extra hours at work due to staff shortages and like you, was classed as an essential worker so no furlough.

Not having a go at you my friend but the whole cutting down on things or being more sensible is great, we should all be doing that anyway however it doesn’t matter. Standing charges remain so even if you use fuck all it’s costing you. If you sit in the dark, in the cold, in silence. It’s costing you. Saving £10 a year with a new kettle that will cost you £30/40 anyway. Just shows how out of touch these cunts are.
More likely one of his donors has a million kettles to shift.Wasn't me who brought up the Law of Thermodynamics mate. But I do love all that shit.
Boris didn't have this idea, it isn't him who is right (or wrong) it's his advisors, I don't think Boris has a fucking clue.
There seems to be so much variability. We have a two bed roomed detached bungalow. Built in the 30's so has a tendency to be cold and damp. August bill was £78 for gas and electric. If you apply the "double whammy" effect, then I guess I could be looking at £300 a month from October, but certainly not the £600 I am seeing from some posters!!??£87 sounds good on the face of it but a note of caution that what you paid for your energy in August will be based on rates related to the old price cap and not the new one which is effective from October 1st. Also, we use far less gas in the summer months as the heating is rarely on or not on at all. We should be using less electricity too due to the long days and lights not being on as much. Those people you know who have seen their bills double will probably be down to the new price cap coming in next month. And it’s coming in just at a time when we’re all entering those months of the year where our energy usage increases dramatically so it’ll be a double whammy.
Fair enough.![]()
No, Boris Johnson Didn't Advise Buying A New £20 Kettle To Save Money On Electricity Bills
His comments may be trending, but they've been taken out of context.www.huffingtonpost.co.uk
Fair enough.
He’s still a **** though.
If something isn't done the whole hospitality sector will either shut down or just open up at weekends.Energy bill at celebrity chef's pub now at £420,000 amid cost of living crisis
A celebrity chef has revealed that the annual energy price at his pub has risen from £60,000 to £420,000 as the cost of living crises continues.
Tom Kerridge has warned that the"ludicrous"price hikes have left the hospitality sector facing a "terrifying landscape".
Mr Kerridge told the BBC that one of his pubs has a monthly electricity bill of £5,000 – but this is set to increase to £35,000 when his contract ends in December.
Yeah, it's all over the place. Maybe that £600 a month is taking into account the next predicted huge increase in January? There seems to be so much variability. Something will surely have to be done. This is literally going to affect everyone apart from the mega rich. That price increase Tom Kerridge is facing will perhaps see even the likes of him having to take drastic action. I'd imagine his flagship pub in Marlow is the one that makes the most money and other places he runs don't make as much profit. Even if he only passes half or less of that increase onto his customers, many who could previously afford to eat at his restaurants simply won't be able to afford it.If something isn't done the whole hospitality sector will either shut down or just open up at weekends.
Only if Spoons leave the heating off!!Something will surely have to be done. This is literally going to affect everyone apart from the mega rich. At this rate, the only places left open in the country in the hospitality sector will be Wetherspoons pubs ffs!
We all know that unless the government do something we’ll all be paying 52p per kWH for electricity and 15p for gas which will be unaffordable for about half the population. Businesses will be paying even more making the price rises they will be forced to make to their products and services unaffordable to even more cash strapped people. Can people please stop posting things like "My bill was £72 last month". Start quoting in terms of £KWH and how many KWH you're expecting to use. Otherwise it's just nonsense numbers that mean very little to anyone.
