Maybe it is time to ditch the inverted full back, retain the width and at the same time it might bring teams out, as the midfield will be less congested.

With inverted positions, it means more passes, slower play and teams just defend the penalty box and make it easier to man mark

We need to find a way to get to that byline to cut crosses back like we used to but it needs drawing defenders wide to isolate them.

waste of time this. Your response is looking for a reaction. Ain’t bothered mate.
Fair play and I haven't read every post but it's a recurring theme. Criticism of Pep however rare gets posters saying people want him sacked, maybe we get big Sam in, remember the dark days etc.....

By you posting a bunch of posters want him gone you are very much looking for a reaction.

Ya cannae have it both ways mate.

Rumour I heard is that there are a number of unhappy players in the camp at present ….
The performance level is more down to some not allegedly wanting to give ‘their all’ for Pep any more.
Not quite at the Mancini situation prior to cup final…. But not far off
Fucking hell.

It screwed up everything.

- No matter if you take Grealish as a good player or not, his career at Villa and England all suggest he plays at best with an overlapping left back. Screwed up his confidence.
- Cancelo does not have a back up option. He is overplayed and also taken his spot for granted without a quality left back pushing him.
- When Walker was out of the squad, some center backs had to fill into the fullback spot. It affected the winger ahead's performance and also brought injury risk to the makeshift fullback because their body were not really built for running up and down. No one wanted that before WC.
- Bernado had to run even more and dropped back deeply when Ake filled the left back spot.
- No cross from left touchline to find Halaand. So just defend the cross from KDB at the right hand side.
- Gomez red card at Copenhagen away made the rest of the starting xi tired at Anfield.

And to make it worse, Gomez agent is Pep's brother. The unhappy players affected probably question if nepotism is there. Both Cucurella and Gomez were Barca product. It seems that Pep is determined to get a Barca left back while ignoring all other easy solutions, like Sosa, etc.

I cannot understand why the board does not rent or buy a LB to fill the hole this winter window to get Pep some support. He must have ask for one when signing the contract? If he did not ask, I can understand why the dressing room was not happy.
Excellent post.

Gomez certainly had a lot of help getting into the team. Pep's brother as his agent and Vinny giving him the seal of approval (I love Vinny, so not criticising him, but it was definitely an additional leg up for Gomez). The failure to get a quality LB last summer was a big failure by the club and I've no idea how this situation has been allowed to continue.

Really good pre game interview from Pep. Taking the pressure of the players and blaming himself for not playing the right players or using the right tactics and it’s up to him to figure it out. What a manager!

Also had cheeky dig about net spend.

I hope the players respond tomorrow.

Exactly. We lose 2 games and some fans go into meltdown.

The worry stems not from the past two games, but from the steady decline in quality, the obvious drop off in desire, and the strange tactics deployed by the boss, over the past few months.

Supporters are rightly concerned, but,as long as its not lip service.......Pep's latest comments are reassuring.

We'll see tonight if he has come up with a few answers.

Concerned yes of course but some are very critical of Pep. Overly so imo.

"We need runners, not just Erling."

This gives me hope.
