The worry for me with Grealish is, we have spent 100m on a player that has now become hard working off the ball and keeps the ball well. We haven't spent 100m on a player that can be a match winner for us. That can change a game on its head and create something out of nothing.
I agree.
Now we have Erling, who is starving at the moment, we need to upgrade the left wing position with someone who is able to beat his man and create chances for him!
Because of that I'm leaning to selling Grealish in the summer and taking the hit.
Let's rewind and get in someone who would be as good as Sane was for us. I'd take the old him in our team now, his type is exactly who we need imo.

I don't think we will sell Grealish, but he is a square peg in a round hole for us. He's a luxury player and not a necessity for us.

We badly need a winger or two. We just need players that can stretch the pitch for us and give us a lot more dynamism going forward.

If we had that, Haaland would be running riot in these types of matches today.

He has improved but the issue is that the players he has to step up for he is not at their level....he is not and never will be a David Silva or a KDB in their prime.....

Therefoe buying him means we downgraded and now we are losing KDB's ability to afect the game and we no longer have the pace of Sterling, work rate of Jesus or Bernardo SIlva playing as he used to, Grealish just isnt good enough to step up and control games or win matches or make match winning contributions like all those others were....

Its not his fault but I think buying Grealish was the start of where we got things wrong.

Grealish work rate gets him decent marks. But he should be more than a workhorse. His dribbling is great and should be used to more effect by the man himself. Instead he tries NOT to avoid tackles to get him a freekick instead of manoeuvre himself in more dangerous situations.

I agree with this.

Grealish' commitment and work rate impressed me today and has over the past month, but we need wingers that give full backs nightmares. Grealish doesn't have the pace to get past his full back and his end product in the final third isn't great as his numbers will suggest.

If we had Mitoma or Kvaratskelia on the wing they would be committing defenders and looking to get past their full back. They would be far less predictable than Grealish.

Our standards MUST improve in the summer.
Absolutely spot on.

As Ive always said about Grealish - he does very little that ANY other player cannt do but cannt do a lot that the best can
He keeps the ball well, works hard, nice guy but THAT is is...creates very little, scores very little...runs backwards more than he does forward....

He has improved but his ceiling of ability is not good enough to replace the players he is supposed to replace

Just does everything too slow. No directness at all. He's working his arse off, but that's worth very little tbh, everyone should be doing that and literally any £5m PL workhorse can do that, a winger for a top team needs to be making an impact rather than just working hard.

Don't think it's surprising that people think he looks our best player when we are all playing too slowly, as that's his speed. I'd swap him for a winger who actually dares take on his man, any day of the week. Just can't see us putting much of a run together playing at this tempo and I can't see him playing at a higher tempo.

Good attitude, plenty of guts and spirit. Puts a fair few of the others to shame.
But there’s just not enough quality in his play - passing, crossing, shooting are all hit and miss. And I‘m not sure he‘ll ever improve enough in that regard.

He’s no where near good enough. Absolutely nothing in his play has ever suggested that he’ll ever be a top top player in this side since he signed. But he’s a likeable guy and clearly works hard every game, there’s just not enough decisive moments.

I agree. You can't fault his effort but the truth is he has a lot of possession and does little with it. He made a lot of runs today but with no end product. He plays too many safe five yard passes, mind you he is not the only one these days. The whole team are at it. Jack wins soft fouls all over the pitch but rarely in the penalty area where it matters.

I was at the match today. Thought he got his back injured in the 1st half. Surprised to see him last 90min. Perhaps due to no back up winger. I won't be surprised to see him missing next match.

Another thing really made me concerning. He shouted at some other players after he made a cross. Cuz no one was there. Very unhappy. It looked like some of our other players did not execute the game plan. I complained about him refusing to cross before. Now I start to question he was holding the ball too long because the teammates did not run to the planned positions. That is something even more concerning than his poor crossing ability TBH.

I just sit on the shortside with a good view of those challenges. Grealish won fouls at very good positions multiple times. Our set piece really sucks. Not him.

Winning some set pieces would be great if he was still playing for Aston Villa but he has to operate at a much higher level if he is going to make the grade. He has to impact matches more.
