I would just rather see another player added at squad depth is all.
Lavia with the buy back clause makes more sense in my opinion over an aging Kovacic.

We don't have an active buy back clause with Lavia.
Buyback option doesn't kick in until 2024 by which time he'll be long gone to the highest bidder.

I never really rated Kovacic. He's done a couple of impressive things when I'v watched him. I really didnt expect City to be linked to him.
