City are the Champions
Arse are invited as losers.

Who in a fair and reasonable world could deem this to be an appropriate decision.

The old suits in the FA since it's what they have done for a 100 years and they can claim their expenses. Could a FOI request be done to see if it was even considered to have it somewhere more convenient. I hope City come out "with we have listened to our fans and have decided to not sell tickets for those wishing to go they can get them from Wembley itself".

club will be shit scared to comment on the boycott, i think only the mighty liverpool "we take you to court fc" could ever come out in support of their fans against the FA.

there will be something in the small print where you sign up for £142m per season that says "thow shall not question an FA decision even if its a shit one or we take your £142m back with interest and deduct 10 points !

well it will be in MCFC small print but nobody elses !
 
Bad look to boycott a charity game. I’ve got nothing against this at all and hope we smash Arteta’s Arsenal.

Bonus if we beat them to a marquee signing who goes on to score the winning goal… and celebrate in front of their end. ;)

Yes, it would be nice to have rotational venues based on the two teams location, but this minor cup has been hosted at Wembley, the home of the England national team, the home of the FA, the same location as the major cups, since 1974.

That hasn’t been done “to stitch up City”, and I’m pretty sure David Gill wasn’t involved in the FA in 1974.

The only time it’s moved is when Wembley is unavailable. We played at the King Power last year because of the Women’s Euros. We played at Villa Park in 2012 because of the Olympics.

Both of those fixtures had a substantially smaller crowd, under capacity, due to the lack of Wembley’s draw. That’s in spite of both being closer venues to Manchester, easier & quicker to get to by road and on the right day by train too.
 
Well it is clearly getting suitable publicity now, and that is before any ticket has even had a chance to be sold.

In short, any City fan that undermines this boycott really needs to have a word with themselves! Of course the selfish and weak willed, will find all manner of petty excuses to justify their attendance, but the reality is, that it will be for nothing more than self-interest and not the greater good of football supporters.

As one of the selfish and weak willed you refer to I've took your advice and had a word with myself.
I've told myself to now go a bit earlier to make more of a day of it.

It's not a Charity game. They had to change the name to community shield a few years ago because they didn't meet the standards required by UK Charity Law.

It does raise some money for good causes though, which is why 1894 has encouraged boycotting fans to make a donation to the Central Manchester Foodbank (or another charity of their choice) which has raised £5k so far.

The main point in your argument is the venue. That isn't why we are boycotting. The whole reason for the boycott is the KO time. It should be earlier in the day so fans can travel home more easily (and arrive home and an acceptable time the night before a working day).

Liverpool and Everton were the two teams who black balled FA plans to have their own Pools coupon to rival Littlewoods back in the day. They wanted the sugar daddy all to themselves, as an organic club of course. So yes, they have form for sticking it to football authorities. Hence why it’s one of the few clubs feared at administrative levels.

This is our opportunity to make a point and your attendance weakens what your fellow fans are trying to do. If you're happy doing that, good for you. Just don't complain the next time fans get shafted.

Community being used as a synonym for charity due to legal reasons, but the basics of it are the same.

It still doesn’t look good boycotting a “community” game because some of us feel snubbed that fifty years of tradition are being respected in spite of us having to stay on a train or coach a bit longer, or later in the day.

People were talking about playing at another venue, that’s why I focused on that. Whether the issue is the venue or the kickoff time, it all seems a bit prams.

When would you have kickoff? Make it too early and “people can’t get down”, make it too late and “people can’t get back”.

It’s not the most difficult fixture to attend, if we can do Copenhagen at 9pm local time, we can do London at 5:30pm. Back on the road by 8pm at the very latest, or stay the night in a Premier Inn. That’s the life of away games.

Or if that’s still too much, stick BBC One on. All the family can gather round the telly box with pie and mash on the table and plenty of brews.

Even look at the European fixtures.

Other sports do the games at weekends to work around supporters attending etc

As do we, regular league fixtures. But this is a minor cup and it has to be fit into the schedule.

3pm on a Saturday at villa park but more chance seeing pigs fly. I’m for boycotting but each to their own

This season`s Manchester City Invitational Community Shield will be held at The Etihad Stadium on Saturday 5 August at 15:00 pm.

On this occasion, Manchester City, the winners of the Premier League and FA Cup, will host Arsenal, the Premier League runners up.

City in the Community and Greater Manchester charities will benefit from the entire proceeds of the game and this special event after operating and hosting expenses have been met.

Manchester City are working closely with community and fans groups to make this a memorable occasion for all to enjoy. Ticket and further event informations will be provided by 14th July.
