Bad look to boycott a charity game. I’ve got nothing against this at all and hope we smash Arteta’s Arsenal.
Bonus if we beat them to a marquee signing who goes on to score the winning goal… and celebrate in front of their end. ;)
Yes, it would be nice to have rotational venues based on the two teams location, but this minor cup has been hosted at Wembley, the home of the England national team, the home of the FA, the same location as the major cups, since 1974.
That hasn’t been done “to stitch up City”, and I’m pretty sure David Gill wasn’t involved in the FA in 1974.
The only time it’s moved is when Wembley is unavailable. We played at the King Power last year because of the Women’s Euros. We played at Villa Park in 2012 because of the Olympics.
Both of those fixtures had a substantially smaller crowd, under capacity, due to the lack of Wembley’s draw. That’s in spite of both being closer venues to Manchester, easier & quicker to get to by road and on the right day by train too.
