I don’t think our record with the Bundesliga has been bad at all. Haaland, Akanji, KDB, Gundo, Dzeko, etc.
 
Stones/Lewis can do the role of moving into midfield on the right, but neither of our current left footers (Aké/Laporte) can really do it on the left. The angles etc are different for left footers rather than right footers who can do the LCB position. Gvardiol definitely has the skill and talent to do it, which alone increases our flexibility and reduces reliance on an injury prone (but immense) Stones. Aside from that, he defends like Dias, can pass like Laporte and started off as a midfielder. Pretty much ideal for Pep
 
Looks a bit of a slide tackle merchant to me. The best defenders have that as the last resort. Also looks like he’s not the tallest either for a defender.

Let’s hope he does better than the other Leipzig talents that get sold off after a good season or 2.
Werner, Upamecano, Keita, Hwang, Adams all sold for big money and flopped.

But… I’m not against the lad. He’s young and our scouting system will do the necessaries. It’s not my money but the figures of £80/100m being mentioned always make me uncomfortable when it comes to CBs. I’d prefer to keep Laporte but if he wants off not much we can do.

Laporte is x8yrs older, and never fully recovered from his ACL. Perfect time for him and club to move on.
don’t understand your money concerns - it’s not yours. City have earned £300m and that, together with the sales should alay any fiscal fears you have.
