Declan Rice

Did City really want him?

The reason I ask is that City obviously have a valuation they will not go beyond for a particular player, right?

So, why did City pay £100M 2 years ago for Jack?

I know it was his release clause but as good as Jack is now he was way overvalued at £100M 2 years ago but City paid it because they wanted him.

Something to ponder?

Jack Guaghan retweeted his earlier article.

For those asking what type of player Gabri Viega is…

He’s right footed and plays predominantly from the right of midfield. His attacking ability his more impressive than his defensive ability. He’s a completely different player to Declan Rice or Gundogan. In fact he’s quite different from anything we’re used to. He reminds me more of Foden when he plays in midfield.

Compared with all midfielders in Europe this is how he fairs.

Strengths

- In the top 99 percentile for goals scored

- In the top 98 for shots

- In the top 90 for progressive caries

- In the top 90 for take ons

- In the top 90 for touches

- In the top 80 for assists

- In the top 75 for progressive passes received

- In the top 75 for shot creating actions

Weaknesses

- In the bottom 3 for passes attempted

- In the bottom 10 for successful passes

- In the bottom 30 for tackles

- In the bottom 32 for interceptions

Its fair to say he’s no way near the finished article. Pep would have his work cut out in developing areas of his game that we need him to excel in. If he could develop in those areas, he could be a top midfielder. I struggle to see him making a huge impact from the off though and if we sign him, I think he would be more of a good squad player to begin with. But overall, I do get a good feeling about this guy, I for one hope it happens.

Gomez was a last minute Plan B, not a Planned Plan B to be fair...
How do you know we aren’t in the same scenario right now? Remains to be seen how well the club has handled this situation. If Plan C is signing a very raw player from Celto de Vigo I can’t say that fills me with a tone of confidence.

Some were saying at the time that we got and paid that much because Silva wanted out!

Or it's just the next elaborate way to create another thing to investigate us for...collusion...
Evidence? ...because Eni Aluko suggested it and that's what it looks like...
Anybody who thinks what came out of her mouth has even the tiniest grain of truth attached should be immediately sectioned.
It baffles me how some people’s minds work.
In what way has it been proved she was right?
Lunatics have taken over the asylum (transfer forum but same thing...)

Gomez was bought at the last minute. We're not even in July yet mate, so there's time to comb through our scouting reports & make the right choice.

Last summer we had two last minute buys. Gomez hasn't worked out "yet", but as for £15m for my player of the season, Akanji? :-)

If the opinion in here on Rice is anything to go on then he certainly has split the vote. The club is allowed to miss out on players. We can only judge the team once next season is upon us.

We all agree that some areas need looked at. Bellingham and rice both would have solved some problems. Players should want to be here and I didn’t get that vibe from Bellingham or rice compared to say Haaland.

I think we will be in for a few surprises before the season starts. I would love another Alvarez type signing.

I don’t disagree that there is time, and we need to wait and see what the clubs list looks like.

Transfer forum is just another name of match day thread.

Not sure what your point is, we don't know what over our valuation was for Grealish, wasn't £100 mill or else we wouldn't have bought him. Where is seems £100 mill for Rice was over our valuation so we didn't go higher than our first bid of £90 mill.

Oh do fuck off!

As if that was the reason why City bid.

Correct about braindead and clueless.
