Funny stats to upset United fans

City won the league in 1968 and United won the European Cup 2 weeks or so after we had clinched it.
But for the 21 seasons after that Including the 70s and 80s we won more.
And for 22 complete seasons since the millenium including the 00s and 10s we have won more.
TBF they did have the upperhand just for the 90s :)

1968-1969 to 1988-1989 (21 seasons)
Major trophies: City 4 -3 United

City:

2 League Cups (1970 & 1976)
1 European Cup Winners Cup (1970)

2000-2001 to 2022-2023 (22 full seasons since the start of the millenium)
Major trophies: City 17 - 16 United

City:
7 League Titles
1 Champions League

6 League Cups
17

United:
7 League Titles
1 Champions League
2 FA Cups
5 League Cups
1 Euro Leage (losers cup - shouldn't count :))
16
Bit silly leaving out the 90's deliberately like that...

Dont know the facts but it would read something like..

Man utd 18 Man City 0

City reached as many finals last season as United have in the last 10 years (only winning one of them, a glorious 2 nil triumph over the global heavyweights Ajax… in the Europa League).

Everything about them is unoriginal.

They stole ‘Manchester’ from us.
They stole ‘United’ from Sheffield Utd.
They stole their club colours from Salford RLFC.
They stole their ‘Red Devils’ nickname from Salford RLFC.
They stole their ‘Old Trafford’ stadium name from Lancashire CCC.
They stole their club crest from Liverpool.

I think they paid Salford for the red evils nickname.

Those facts are eye-opening though because it shows that United's era of major domination was short-lived and we were neck and neck (or slightly ahead) for all the 70s and 80s and way ahead of them for the last 12 years (and counting). I know Gary James has often pointed it out but the stats are pretty conclusive. It shatters the tired old narrative about "little old City" which the media love to trot out (and some of our own fans)

Kalvin Phillips has won as many medals in one season as George Best did in his united career (not counting charity shields)
Apologies for going slightly off topic but a mad stat that I find bemusing is Patrick Vieira won the exact same amount of trophies with Manchester City as Liam Brady did with Arsenal.
