My dad too - said people were crying in the streets reading newspapers - reds and blues - the original post I call BSMy dad was 18 and an apprentice when news came through about Munich , your story is the total opposite to what he told me,he's still alive now at 83, he said grown men were crying openly on the shop floor. Its always stuck.with me and always will.
I was a lad of 8 at the time but the memory of it has stuck with me. I come from a family of Blues and I well remember how it affected my Mum & Dad and my elder brother. Also, our neighbours. There was sadness all around and I don't believe for one minute that anyone cheered the news. I agree with you, that story was BS.My dad too - said people were crying in the streets reading newspapers - reds and blues - the original post I call BS
I was always told all Manchester was devastated at the news. My parents were both solid blues from Gorton, I remember my Mam telling me she shed tears at hearing about it - she liked Roger Byrne - a Gorton lad who went to school in Abbey Hey. My Grandad, who used to watch City going back to Hyde Road, told me all about about Frank Swift being killed when I was a nipper. My dad was 18 and an apprentice when news came through about Munich , your story is the total opposite to what he told me,he's still alive now at 83, he said grown men were crying openly on the shop floor. Its always stuck.with me and always will.
Bit silly leaving out the 90's deliberately like that...City won the league in 1968 and United won the European Cup 2 weeks or so after we had clinched it.
But for the 21 seasons after that Including the 70s and 80s we won more.
And for 22 complete seasons since the millenium including the 00s and 10s we have won more.
TBF they did have the upperhand just for the 90s :)

FixedThe most basic stat, 100% of rags are smelly cunts
I think they paid Salford for the red evils nickname.Everything about them is unoriginal.
They stole ‘Manchester’ from us.
They stole ‘United’ from Sheffield Utd.
They stole their club colours from Salford RLFC.
They stole their ‘Red Devils’ nickname from Salford RLFC.
They stole their ‘Old Trafford’ stadium name from Lancashire CCC.
They stole their club crest from Liverpool.

I am shit at maffs 101% of rags are smelly scruffy cunts. The most basic stat, 100% of rags are cunts
Those facts are eye-opening though because it shows that United's era of major domination was short-lived and we were neck and neck (or slightly ahead) for all the 70s and 80s and way ahead of them for the last 12 years (and counting). I know Gary James has often pointed it out but the stats are pretty conclusive. It shatters the tired old narrative about "little old City" which the media love to trot out (and some of our own fans)Bit silly leaving out the 90's deliberately like that...
Dont know the facts but it would read something like..
Man utd 18 Man City 0
Apologies for going slightly off topic but a mad stat that I find bemusing is Patrick Vieira won the exact same amount of trophies with Manchester City as Liam Brady did with Arsenal.Kalvin Phillips has won as many medals in one season as George Best did in his united career (not counting charity shields)
