I just have this impression Philips would want to stay up north.

Not a lot, tbh. Moyes played Paqueta, who impressed. Said there had been 'news' but 'nothing that wobbled their head (re valuation)", generally wasn't at all clear about what that meant.

Cancelo to Barca, strong rumours now - loan with option/obligation to buy. I expect this is on.

Doku talk is at the same level. Price from 30m to 60m.
Cheers bud, saved me a pissed up couple of hours browsing later.

Wouldn't be ideal selling to Liverpool, but at the same time, he's a non-entity for us at the moment, taking up a squad spot in an important position whilst collecting big wages that can be better spent elsewhere.

Our issue is finding a club where Phillips would agree to go to. If Liverpool's that club, take the money and run in my opinion. He may well improve them, but I'd rather that than him hamstringing us when we could take the £40m for his sale and buy someone Pep actually trusts to play a part.
I said basically the same thing on the KP thread earlier today. It's now become way beyond strange. Pep won't use him to spell Rodri for 15 minutes in a 3 nil at Burnley with a cup match coming midweek. People worry about our projected transfer fees but somehow it's OK to let a 40+ mil investment sit unused collecting wages? I'm not blaming him. I am wondering why we're not moving to rectify this situation and minimize our losses. It's become a mystery. And the "he wants to stay" argument is nonsense, I'm sure with Foden, Grealish, Stones, and Walker being important to Southgate he can be persuaded to have a conversation with Kalvin for his own good.

Could be Philips, and to a lesser extent Laporte are paying the price for that Southampton Carabao cup performance, Pep can be slow to forgive….
I'm convinced Laporte's ridiculous performance against Forest away was the end of the line for him...he never came back into the mix in anything meaningful again. I genuinely don't mind either. A couple seasons ago I became convinced we would not win a CL with Sterling, Mahrez, Cancelo, Walker or Ederson on the pitch. As much as I love Kyle, Ederson is the only one who proved me wrong...

Last night wasn’t the game for KP to come into without confidence or form.

Burnley’s press was very good for the most part and Rodri was the main reason it failed.

I wonder if Pep has him lined up to play Sheff Utd in a couple of weeks.

Be very happy to see the back of Phillips. He was shite when we bought him (god only knows what we saw in him) and now he’s worse. Can’t see anyone buying him so fuck knows what we will do. He is worth nothing and we can’t carry passengers
Not true, He has value. Just not a fit here. We need to find the right situation and move to sell. I would take 25 mil plus getting him off the books. It's a loss money wise, but a relatively minimal one that we can manage. The idea of him sitting there collecting big wages and never playing is difficult to understand. Typically we don't do lose-lose situations, but this has now steamrolled into one...I'm at a point where I just pretend he's not here, sort of like Pep does...

Regarding cancelo, I’d have insisted on a permanent transfer for any teams looking to get him. Either Barca or any European teams would have to accept that or cancelo would have to be forced to look elsewhere like the Saudi league knowing that staying he city he has slim chance of any meaningful playing time.

Knowing Barca, I’m hesitant on them actually activating the buy option.

Walkers one of the best defenders in the history of the club.

For sure, but when Sones went down late and Kyle came on I was like hmmm. Don't ask me why. Then Inter and Lukaku blew that point blank look and I was about to have a stroke. Btw I forgot to include Laporte and Zinchenko on my list. This was for CL only, not Prem or other comps...it was just a feeling that I developed...
