Kaoru Mitoma

People laughing about me saying I'd pay up to 80m for Mitoma and Caicedo goes for 110m.

I did warn you about this market. It went absolutely bonkers years ago.

In fairness, you have a fully valid point, and the Caicedo fee made me rethink.

Caicedo however signed a contract extension in March. Mitoma continues to refuse to. That's the big difference. That and 5 years age difference as well.

As someone else pointed out, in February Brighton were looking for 30m for him. That just doesn't jump up to 80m in 4 months. Might jump up to 40 maybe even pushing 50 with everything going on, might stay at 30. But 80m for a player in his situation is still absurd.

Either way, seems we are not interested so all moot.

He's playing very well. Shame it seems we're not after him in the end, I think he's such a clever lad, wouldn't have any issues slotting in with us and could learn so much from Pep.

Being marked by one of our lads on loan as well.

Completely get your point about the contract situation... Brighton must be rubbing their hands together at the business they have done the past two seasons. Such a well run football club.

I doubt they'd sell Mitoma for 30m or else every man and his dog would be interested in him.

Still a moot point as we won't be signing him this summer. Would definitely revisit this one next summer though.

Brighton have probably made more in sales than their club is actually worth!

Well, probably not, but it might be cheaper for Chelsea to buy Brighton than keep spending fortunes on their players.

Genuinely think you’re all mad wanting to pay any more than £30m for him, he’s a latecomer to professional football, a latecomer to a competitive league and he’s barely got any goal involvements - aesthetic player sure but I don’t think he’s got a higher ceiling than Palmer.

Talks of £80m for a player with a 3 month purple patch are insane.

Doesn't need to be 3 months. In this social media obsessed world as soon as someone has one good game they're worth upwards of £50m and 'linked' with the bigger clubs. Pretty sure there are journalists taking back handers from agents...... whodafunkit.

That semi final performance v the rags convinced me that he isnt for us. If Mahrez or Foden had the same chances the rags would have been buried.

Foden and Mahrez, have had plenty of disappointing games. Mitoma is a quality player it would be foolish to base our transfer decision on one below par performance.

Mitoma has had half a good season, since DeZerbi arrived. Only had one PL season. Two in Europe in total, none in a European/uefa competition. He was bought for 2.5m, and has two years left on his contract.

For all intents and purposes, he is effectively the same as an EDS player, promising if he can maintain it, but without the advantage of being u20 or being counted as club trained or home grown if he were to perform regularly.

20m is plenty.
yeah no, you're right, we are definitely getting him for 20m.

Grealish has a better chance getting one past Ederson after it pings so hard off of an opposing defender at the other end
