Like Jack but he seems to be standing still when he receives the ball more often than not, difficult to get away from the defender from a standing start.
Remember Pep bollocking Sterling's body position when receiving the ball standing square.
Still a great player and character.

He was frustrating tonight but I thought he got better as the game went on. Confident pen from him.

Thought he was poor but improved as the game went on. Which bodes well. He needs to be fully fit and sharp to be at his best and tonight will have helped. Like the way he was getting his shots off tonight.

He is a great lad as evidenced above but with Jesus Navas as your marker, he needs to play better than he did tonight. I thought he was very average. The assists and goals need to increase this season with the players we have lost. Haaland was feeding off scraps again tonight.

Thought he was fine tonight. Kept the ball vey well, put some dangerous crosses in and a couple of decent shots on target. Scored his pen too.

Nope

Gvardiol Grealish Rodri and Ederson are the only players performing to the high level tonight. Others are not really.

First half the left side problem is more on Kovačić(not blaming him). His mindset is too much tuchel ball. When it should go wide, he past to the right... when he should hold the position, he ran away... When he should cover Gvardiol's position to free Gvardiol, he stayed too central. That is why 2nd half Pep switched him and Foden because based on the form our attack has to build up on the left side then cross/switch to the right. Foden understood the flow better - he played actually the same position as his false 9. We built up on the left. Then Gvardiol will cross/switch to the right to Palmer(Mahrez role).

Gundo left a huge hole to fill in. Kovacic is not there yet.

He’s a character but comes up short as a footballer . His main moves are a mazy dribble back towards our centre backs or a predictable cut inside and a shot into the keeper’s hands . Navas had him in his pocket all night.

haters will always hate

I thought he was OK tonight, got better as the game went on

Wish he would go on the outside a bit more and cross with his left. He has a decent left foot delivery when he actually uses it. There's plenty of times where he looks like he has the space to take that route but opts to cut back inside. I understand we do play a possession game and often we are clearly outnumbered in the box, so he's playing a game of percentages but I just feel going down the line a bit more would at least keep their defenders guessing.

He was poor tonight. He’s gone back to his original cautious way of playing with us when he first arrived - everything backwards. The Liverpool game was his peak. Energetic, exciting. He’s forgotten how to be that player

He had far more pitch to work with at Villa... Let's see how he does Saturday versus a team that will give us more space to attack than the likes of Sevilla.

Good point.

But it was not about him not dare to use his left foot. It is part of the game plan. Grealish has a good left foot but his left foot delivery rage is smaller than a real left foot player. Without Gundo ran into the left half space in the box and Mahrez pop up around the penalty point, Grealish did not have any target inside his left foot range if he ran into byline. The game plan was clearly crossing from Grealish's right foot or Gvardiol's left foot. We can see Halaand and Palmer waiting for that signal to run to the far right post.

It will change a lot after we sign Paqueta. His profile fits more to our current system.

I love Jack but a 37 year old kept him quiet. Whenever he got space to run, I’m shouting drive into the box, and he didn’t
In the absence of Kdb him and foden should roatate position more often .He is not a winger and would never have great Goal contribution.
