First full week complete on site at RG Group & Olympian project The Fairfax Manchester a 488 appartment scheme spanning across a 29 storey block and a 23 storey block. Works are well underway with EDR LTD progressing with piling mat works and JBDS carrying out drainage diversion works ahead of piling commencing later in the month.

Following our recently reported planning approval in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Campus, I was really pleased to visit ‘Echo Street’ today and spent some time with Development Manager James Atkinson and Regional Managers Kathryn Castile and Miriam Mkumbwa discussing our plans for this state of the art 1,224 student scheme. Contractors Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd were already underway with some piling mat enhancements and they were kind enough to show us around the site and talked through progress and next steps. It’s an exciting flagship for iQ and I’m looking forward to welcoming The University of Manchester and The Manchester Metropolitan University students come summer ‘26.

I went on a tour of the building hosted my Michael Ingall before redevelopment began. As you say, fantastic building.

The redevelopment is taking time. They must have comes across loads of unforeseen issues, especially as the building had been neglected for decades by the previous owner Britannia Centres Limited.
