Liverpool fans demanding VAR is scrapped. What they fall to mention is if their wasn't VAR at the Spurs game the goal still wouldnt have stood as it was given off side by the assistant ref

They are all fucking idiots. There are many problems with VAR that can you can use to question its use. This isn't one of them.

And if you "tweak" the "no come-back when play is restarted" rule, how long would you leave it open? 2 seconds? 10 seconds? 2 minutes? Phase of play? Until Liverpool complains? Indefinitely? Think about what you are suggesting. A stupid "tweak" for an error that shouldn't have happened and can easily be prevented by changing communucation protocol rather than changing the way the game is played. We have had enough of that shit.
 
Here is a question. Anfield has no screen to show the result of VAR interventions, right? In thus case, what would have been shown on the screen if they had had one? Presumably "Onside. Goal" or some such and everyone could have seen the mistake, including the players and the referee.

The words hoisted and petard come to mind.
 
They should follow crickets example and state up front what they are checking for. In a cricket review for lbw (for example) the drs official states “checking for lbw, the on field decision was out” or “the on field decision was not out”.

so in this case they should have said “checking for offside, the on field decision was goal” and the referee could have corrected them and told them “the on field decision was no goal”.

The language used in that audio clip (up to the point of the expletives) is so vague and ambiguous that I’m not surprised the error was made. Everybody assumed they were talking about the same thing. It’s a bit of a shambles from a communication point of view and I would have thought that the protocol would be to ensure everybody in the conversation knew what they were actually checking for. Getting aligned is not difficult

He is the operator who actually generates the images and draws the lines the VAR requests. Also seemingly the only one of the three of them who seemed to notice anything was amiss when Tottenham took a free kick rather than kicked off to restart play. He had previously worked for Hawkeye it seems.

Think the confusion with the audio comes from the fact he starts appealing to “Ollie” when he realises the VAR and AVAR have become frozen in confusion. That “Ollie” is Michael Oliver, the 4th official.

He’s the only one who comes out of this with any credit. Perhaps they should sack the other two off and just leave it all to the only guy who seemed to know what he was doing.

Those mumbling pricks on that spurs/liverpool game , jesus christ, barely finishing a sentence, mumbling words, stuttering, its no surprise it was a fuck up.

Var wont work properly until its totally transparent, like rugby, like cricket, like even fuckin tennis!!

Liverpool and united are contributing to this mess by not having screens.
All clubs must now have screens and it the car discussions must be heard live in real time.

What is football hiding that its behind this silent screen?

He doesnt come out with any credit. It was his mumblings that were causing the confusion.
He was literally making no sense at all.

Not sure you’re attributing the words to the right people?

As soon as the VAR says “ check complete, check complete, that’s fine, perfect”

He very clearly says “Wait, wait, wait, the on field decision was offside, are you you happy with this?”

That was said at the exact moment Tottenham were taking the free kick. If the VAR had picked up on that and immediately shouted for the referee to delay game, it may not have been too late to retrieve the situation.

After a bit of discussion between the VAR and AVAR, he again very clearly says.

“ The onfield decision was offside. Are you happy with this image?”

His next words are virtually begging the VAR to say something to the referee

“Delay, delay, Ollie is calling in to say delay the game. The decision is onside.”

He’s not the one doing any mumbling.

I know exactly who i mean and its the same fella saying those words.

Its not what he said, its how he said it. Ive listened to it a few times now and his words are unclear and incoherent. He starts a sentence and doesnt finish it.

Ok fair enough its not on him. Its the other 2 clowns for clearly not watching the game but non of them come out of it well. Nobody is clear and succinct in there vocals. Talking over each other etc , “ollie” “mate” , its shambolic.

Yeah its funny its the dippers but really its not a laughing matter.

Utter half wits running a multi billion pound industry

There's a delicious irony that the mistake was done by a man who's been very favourable towards Liverpool throughout his career.

There wouldn't have been anyone there to see it..... Since they were playing away.
