Middle East Conflict

If a mad gunman kills some people and then barricades himself in to a house with 3 hostages, do the police get the bloke by blowing up the house, and sod the hostages?
Not to mention blowing up the whole neighborhood including schools and hospitals and depriving it of food water and power.

Israel ambassador to uk “there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza”. Fucking hell, whilst having complete sympathy with the atrocities committed on Israelis, that comment is just plain daft. Explain the reasons why you think what you are doing is justified but don’t deny you’re doing it
Welcome to Israeli propaganda.

Can’t disagree there mate.

Will it ever change or will we always stay a greedy selfish society? I’d like to think one day it will change but what would be the catalyst for it?

I’d say God knows but he’s the fucking problem for the most part!!

Disclaimer…. I don’t believe in fairy tales…..
I think it would take a catastrophic global event like a pandemic that was actually effective in wiping out 90% of the population and I guess humanity might have a chance as there could be less pressure on land and resources afterwards, but that scenario just as likely to end in dystopia, probably more likely.

Absolutely - Atheism is actually a religion and Humanism is it's major sect.
Quite often tolerance just isn't there. And that's the big problem - Non tolerance of others.
Democracy has huge problems this century because of non-acceptance of others opinion.

Excellent point, and explains why numerous countries are unhealthy places to live if you don't comply with the ruling orthodoxy - I wouldn't fancy living in a lot of sub-Saharan Africa if I were gay right now, given the increasing influence of evangelical christian doctrine in recent years.

You do realise this is a primarily a football forum and the vast majority are City fans with all that entails, I’ve had to break off from saving the planet to google dystopia. If it all goes to shit now your name will also be on the list :-)

Welcome to Israeli propaganda.
But it has no value as propaganda because it was such a ridiculous statement

Both sides are at it, and I would say Hamas is slightly better at it, that's why your news sources should be carefully picked anything on twitter (x) is automatically suspect , I try and find more sober less partisan news sources like the excellent Haaretz a left leaning Israeli newspaper

I am really at a loss as to the war aims of Israel, in order to defeat Hamas they are going to have to go in very heavy and be prepared for a long urban conflict, but Hamas is like Hydra it will just pop up again and again as long as the conditions are ripe for it, so they either have to empty Gaza of it's population, which the Americans have told them not to even think about, or occupy it, which is going to be no fun for them and it will further isolate Israel, there is also the risk of further escalation in the north and the West Bank, this might be the reason a ground offensive has not happened, because they don't have a clue what to do after it's finished and also if it kicks off in the north they don't have the resources or man power to fight a war on two fronts

If you want your country folk to willingly fight another you have to dehumanise the other side. Easier if they don’t look like you or pray to the same god. The same sort of rumours will be circulating in Palestinian circles about Israeli atrocities.

When they look like you or pray to the same god it gets a bit harder to find reasons to convince people your victory is the only righteous one. One of the more bizarre anti-luftwaffe propaganda messages used by the British government to differentiate Germans from the British was how they didn’t play cricket so weren’t team players like us. Genuinely.

A bit more context it wasn't done by Israel. It was done by a Lebanese Falangist militia, the IDF merely stood by. Sharon was found to be 'personally responsible' by an Israeli commission.
So even the fact checking on these platforms are not accurate it seems where do you go from there

Is that so. I wouldn't fancy being gay in any Islamic country being that the sharia punishment for it is death. Go look at Iran publicly hanging gay people from cranes for instance.

The Evangelical Christian opinion of homosexuality is a mere bagatelle compared with the opinion of homosexuality in the Islam world.

Many not privy to the braves, Avi Shlaim included, may not perceive them as representing Israel.

If so, consider the first-hand forefronts of all forefronts, former-IDFs who have after themselves involved in operations, realized to not support the heavy-handed actions. More than 1400 former soldiers have been speaking on the actions of war.

Of course, when following these actions, armchair critics will go “well yes, but…”

Do you spend all day on YouTube searching "antisemite"?

PS I'm joking here just in case you weren't clear. As I've said before there are many people even on the Israeli side, who are critical of Israel's actions. It's their opinion and they're entitled to it. But it works both ways and until enough people on both sides stand up and question the actions of "their" side, this will continue.

We nearly had that but mankind’s intelligence and ingenuity came up with vaccines.
I think that has gone now, need an alien invasion probably to unite us all now probably.
