North Stand Construction Discussion

Off topic.

According to the Daily Mail, United are looking at putting safe standing into the lower tier of the Stretford End. If United did that, it would give United an official singing section, currently between the Stretford End and the main stand, and the bottom tier of the Stretford End.

I appreciate nobody tells City what to do, especially a City fan posting on Blue Moon :-), but City need to make either the bottom tier, or the top tier, or both tiers of the new North stand safe standing.

Utility work for the new development apparently ! Loads of pipe work and trunking on the other side in the car park. Think one of the stadiums electrity supply or substation is located somewhere in that area ! There's already a tarmacadamed channel that's been dug round the perimeter close to there which runs into the cordoned off area!

The approval/decision notice has now been published. As far as I can see same candidtions as previously drafted. Maybe it was indeed the legals holding it up. Just the screens left now.

They started the groundworks for the South Stand in February 2014. Construction didn't start until July/August 2014 with the stand opening in August 2015. If they start construction in the next few weeks then they'll have many months more of development time to get the new North Stand up and running when compared to the South. Obviously, the other structures could slow things down a bit but I could see them prioritising the stand itself at the expense of the hotel/City Square etc if they felt it wouldn't be ready for August 2025.
