Middle East Conflict

I popped it in there to see yours and others outrage at the genocide of white farmers in South Africa.

Oh wait……let me guess? You’re not arsed eh, they probably asked for it yes?

Fucking pesky colonialists, bit like the Jews in Israel.
Fuck me. Now there is a genocide ..... and you accuse others of hyperbole.

Again facts on the ground. Who is being 'delegitimised' here?. Revisionist bollocks indeed.

Again nobody is arguing over who administered what. We are where we are and the only fact is that the self declared borders of Israel are way beyond where they should be.
Which is why we need moderate leadership on both sides to negotiate the borders of two co-existing states, and why vile terrorists like Hamas and right wing extremists like Netanyahu need to get fucked off, and why posting context free inaccurate maps going back 100 years doesn’t help the discussion.

Those maps have changed numerous times across history. People can't just pick and choose what part of history suits them best.
Bibi is **** however actions against Israell over time led to a right wing government. And various changes to those maps
History needs to be torn apart and a resolution that suits both the palestians and the Isrealis. With everything that has happened recently , it will also require an independent peacekeeping force for a good while imho

Interesting post.
While the Jews may have called themselves Palestinians, at the time of the Balfour declaration, even though there'd been plenty of Jewish migration since the late 19th C, they still constituted only 10 percent of the population.
In 1890, the Jewish population of what became Palestine was about 43k, which was 8% of the total. In 1922, that figure had increased to around 84k, so an increase of 41k. Over the same period the Muslim population increased by over 150k. That left the Jews as approximately 11% of the population. The first violence was an attack on the Jewish settlement of Tel Hai, with a second attack in Jerusalem. That was the start of inter-communal violence.

Exact figures for Arab immigration are hard to establish with any accuracy but it's known that Egypt settled around 100k in the area in the mid 19th century and many more migrated from Syria, in search of work. Comparison of population growth and birth rates suggests there was significant immigration of Arabs and Muslims into Palestine in the 100 years to 1948.

Trolls on X are funny and easy to spot

" my orthodox Jewish neighbours are unable to travel on public transport in central London for fear of attack from anti-semites"

Response - "I am a Jew - if your friends are real and truly Orthodox they are forbidden to travel on public transport on the Sabbath. I suspect you are making this up"

This is the shit that trolls and the right wing are stirring up thanks to Braverman etc and of course most of the plebs who accept that have no idea what the Sabbath means never mind the rest.

I said 10 % in 1917 so pretty close to the 11% you mention in 1922.
What you seem to be suggesting is that in 1848 the place was empty, or that there were as many Jews as Arabs. And not many of either.

To be fair Charlie boy and the late Queen Liz lead/led pretty extravagant lifestyles compared to many of their subjects.
To be honest not sure why I'm wasting my time responding to this ridiculousness.

These stories are always aimed at the people who refuse to differentiate between Hamas and Palestinians.

It’s a way to ease the burden of guilt for people supporting the massacre of innocents, because the terrorist organisation that Israel helped seize control 17 years ago steals aid money and lives the life of luxury.

If these articles actually wanted to do something they would be targeted at the people facilitating this life of luxury.

Who is leasing private jets to Hamas? Hey Blinked, why has one of them lived in the USA for 14 years?

Where’s the outrage at Erdogan for sheltering them?

There’s none of that, it’s just “look how bad Hamas are, isn’t it good we’re fully supporting Israel’s campaign and ignore the casualties”

There is plenty of first-hand evidence that the place was sparsely populated in the mid-19th century, and largely uncultivated. But the Jews were in the minority and were probably largely religious communities in Jerusalem and Safed (in the Galilee).
