Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

You know, ordinarily I'd dismiss that as wild conjecture but the whole Walker story has been really fucking strange, and unlike City/Pep.

He's gone from being dropped for disciplinary reasons and struggling to get back in the side - to the point where he had one foot out of the door - to one of the first names on the team sheet (and captain).

Frankly, after a decent start, he's had a poor season.
Was Walker the problem tonight, really?

Akanji, passes all over the place.
Bernardo, all over the place, literally, but not in a good way.
Foden, ineffective.
Stones, well off it early on.

3 subs that were terrible.

Overall a terrible team performance but he was no worse than anyone else.

So bloody what. He's not here so get over it
You cant when this was obvious from day 1. Love Haaland but him and Alvarez on together ...as starters up top..

it was obvious from day 1..Alvarez and Haaland on together...top 8 forward line ill give you that but makes the team no better than a top 8 side

Former Manchester City defender Gael Clichy on Amazon Prime: "City played one of the worst games we've seen from them.
"When you see two centre-backs playing number six, you could see with the ball, in possession, there was no fluidity. Usually that's what we like to see from City. We did not see any of this tonight.
"Tonight they're lucky not to concede two, maybe three or four."

I don‘t think the club or Pep has settled for anything and are probably bamboozled by what’s happening..remember didn’t we win the first six games and the world thought everything City was sweet.
Imagine getting Newcastle in the last 16 Champions league..
Keeping silverware ”rolling” in or otherwise will be mighty difficult this year in my opinion.
Bamboozling is replacing Gundo and Mahrez with Kovacic and Nunes and expecting the same results.

Villa were shooting from anywhere. Until 60 min (McGaun action), they didn't have a clear goal action. After that, yeah it was a mess.

Second, we had 3-4 starters missing, not 1 or 2 + another coming back from injury.

Third, we had our 2 most important and best players out.

Fourth, Villa are the best team at home this year.

An awful match, but not a useful one to get any conclusions.
Can we draw conclusions from conceding a combined 7 goals to Chelsea and Spurs?

Tonight is already history. We move on...and hopefully have fucking learnt from tonight. Rodders and Jack back, hopefully Doku, I've not seen whether he's likely to be back or not. Win our next four, Arsenal got to go to Villa and Liverpool. Let's see where we are in early January with Kev back.
Bet Villa will be prime shite against Arse!

It might be your "opinion", but how anyone can blame Haaland tonight I've no idea, we barely got the ball near him, he had our only 2 efforts on goal, 1 was a great save, the other not his greatest header ever, but if you want scapgoats for that shambles, start with the man in charge, then 7 or 8 other players.
I’m not placing the blame solely on haaland. I’m merely saying if he is truly one of the best players in the world then I expect more from him. I don’t think that’s asking for much bearing in mind he is the highest paid player at the club and is seen as an elite forward

Haaland is really missing KDB's service. Villa did look to have quite a high line so why we didn't try a few over the top when nothing else was working is completely baffling. Pep so stubborn it's almost masochistic.

Worse I've seen us for a long time wish we stop messing with the players they haven't got a clue where there playing akanji doesn't work in Midfield silva out of form needs dropping walker needs a break alvarez needs to come out of Midfield aswell time to give Bob a proper run of games

I’ve always maintained Kane is a better fit for what pep wants. If you can be bothered check my post history. I won’t resort to personal insults il just leave it there.
I'll admit and apologise for using personal insults, but to be honest, you've personally insulted yourself more with your outlandish comments than anyone else ever could. Now find a corner and go hang your head in shame

OK lets put things into perspective as to how and why we got our arse kicked tonight .
From start to finish can we name a POTM apart from Eddie who at least made tow important saves.
City fans please accept that we are nowhere good enough to win the PL. Yes you agree ?? Take those Blue Tinted specs off and say why if you disagree !!
Ignore the fact that we had a weakened starting team tonight, but we are nothing like the team we have been over the last three seasons. WHY ?? We seem to have lost our fight and spirit and yet in the CL we are just the opposite and seem unbeatable over the years.
PL to me we have lost but CL I really think we will win. Seriously !!
We are lacking a leader , a fkin hard 100% leader I can take losing but that really was poor tonight an think we’ve been poor all season We have some great players but they’re too lightweight Gimme another Yaya an Zabba esque type from somewhere
