Just an observation. Our early leavers and they leave in droves which is sad but true I’m afraid. If you look at dare I say it.. Liverpool. The majority and a big majority stay right to the end. This is factually correct if you take a lot at their match tonight and I’ve seen them countless times on the tv. It will all help come the end of the season. Yes it’s paining me to say it!! I wish our own fans had the same mindset and back our amazing team right to the end. I’m going to duck now.

Don’t duck for telling the truth.

Tim, are OSC tickets always third tier? And do STs ever come up on the OSC portal? I only joined a branch this season but already get the sense matchday fans have as good a chance as any of getting tickets off the OSC because so many branch members have an ST and points going back 50 years so don't really need the portal unless they're sorting friends and family. OSCs are good for the social aspect either way.
Some are third tier, some have been Level 1 this season mate. I think the bigger benefit is people sharing spares for home games when away with work or illness. I’m really comparing this with people paying touts prices for home games. It’s not helpful if, for example, young families need to be in the family stand.

I read about the first 20 replies of a huge thread on Twitter after their last home game and it could have been lifted straight off here.

Early leavers, tourists, real fans can’t get tickets, cunts with phones out all game.

Anfield sounds very flat and quiet tonight ...it sounded like we made more noise at home to Sheffield United at 3pm on a Saturday. They've an 8pm kick off, top of the league, a game against a big club with a huge away following....and it's flat, you can hear the players shout. People need to stop buying into the Anfield myth...

We have. The media won't. They will keep on pushing the Anfield atmosphere myth to appease Liverpool fans.

I am Watching the game and thought exactly the same .

Couple Scousers at work have said Anfield has been flat all season. They have been saying noticeable increase in tourists this year.
Is this a case of all clubs trying to squeeze every penny for FFP?

Yep I’m not ducking now. Watched their game tonight. All stayed to the very end even after result was never in doubt. Klopp over to the kop doing his think and kop respond in their thousands to huge cheers. We have to do this too. It’s all small wins and Liverpool are going to the wire again with us. Our fan base home support really need to sort ourselves out. It’s embarrassing when we come off the field taking the plaudits. Worth some points when you back your team. Another poster reckons we could have got results against points dropped this season and won those games if the fans had backed this amazing team. I totally agree. Time we backed them properly at home. Liverpool fans have shown us how to do it.

No thanks. I don’t want to be Liverpool and I don’t want us to have a fanbase like theirs. Their stadium is full of tourists and plastics and frustrated glory hunters. I’m proud to be MCFC and to have our loyal, cynical, humble and easy-to-please fan base who stuck with the team when things got rough.

Yep spot on.

Bizarre that any blue would want to come on a City forum and big up the horrible feral dipper scum fanbase.

I’m not bigging that lot up at all I’m stating facts and the facts are that lot stayed in large numbers till the end with their match never in doubt on a miserable Monday evening. Our fan base always leave in droves no matter what the score is. I’m a typical blue also who hates Liverpool but hates Man U even more.

I’m with you all the way there Dave

I think he would have been bigging up any fan base that all stayed to the end of a night game to applaud their team off. What’s the alternative, bigging up people leaving in their droves ten minutes before the end of the Crystal Palace game when the match was in the balance. Or bigging up the numerous posters who say they only join in with a song if it’s one that they like.

Each to their own but the lack of passion in our home support this season has clearly cost us points.

Staying to the final whistle is one thing but other than that, Liverpool aren't an example to aspire to when their own manager has complained publicly, multiple times in just the last month alone, about the lack of atmosphere/support from the fans at Anfield. One of those games was United, which they like to say is their biggest rivalry. The difference is, the media/press don't turn it into some bitter wankfest, just to lay the boot in on their whole club. Like they do every time Pep asks for more from the fans, when the team need a boost.

even the scousers stay behind at full time on a monday night. our lot leave early in droves on a saturday afternoon. really bizarre
Liverpool has a significantly higher proportion of 'match day' fans vs season ticket holders. The last time I spoke with the Spirit of Shankly group, they reckoned they had less than 20k season tickets (in a 60k stadium now). We have between 35k-40k in a 55k stadium.

I think your typical 'tourist' or real fan who attends a handful of games per year is far more likely to stay until the end than a season ticket holder who attends 20+ games each season.

Did you see him yesterday having a go at the stands during the game, why anyone thinks Anfield sets a standard I don’t know...

I feel like I've seen him do it loads more than any other big 6 club manager since he's been at Liverpool. He complained about early leavers too in his first few years, people seem to forget this stuff so easily.

You can speculate that it has been a factor but there’s no way on earth you can conclude that it has “clearly” been a factor in dropping points.
